I'm thinking about picking up the L4D+L4D2 bundle tonight, but I'm not sure if my lappy can run it (it's got an onboard graphics card). If I can run TF2 on mid-high settings (4GB of system RAM, 2.0 gHz dual core, Graphics card borrows up to 2GB from system RAM), can I run this?

L4D2 runs better than TF2 on my machine.  Don't know how much of a difference the on-board card might make though, it could be a killer for all I know.  I know that L4D2 uses a more advanced version of the engine than TF2; they can't use newer features in TF2 to keep from alienating their base that got it three years back.

Note that there's two or three glitched parts where if you have scenery detail on LOW, you could get screwed in versus mode--there's some scenery that is normally considered minor and unimportant that doesn't get shown, but is still common to hide behind.  So keep that setting on medium regardless of all the others.

Just beat Dead Center on Normal, in Last Man on Earth.

Tanks aren't actually so bad, to be honest.  You don't have common infected to get caught up on, and you're sure to find plenty of fire.  I had my second tank auto-kill itself on the finale, too, for some reason.  Adrenaline is way more important than pills.  Spitters will screw you up:  if you get pounced and incapped and spat on, then start to get back up in B&W, you'll be dead from the spit before you can get out of the way.  Oh yeah--and as far as I've learned, the correct way to deadstop a jockey is to run TOWARDS it just as it's started descending from a hop.

Ugh. I think I have to re-install LFD2. It seems to have gotten corrupted partway through updating. And by updating, I mean redownloading then entire ~2GB files.

Honestly, it'd be so much less of a bandwidth drain if they didn't have to overwrite every single file.

REVIVAL OF THE FITTEST

So, this week's mutation:

Hard Eight
Double the specials, quadruple the fun!

Face eight Special Infected at one time, this is double the standard number! And if that wasn’t trouble enough, we also increase the spawning frequency so it is raining Specials.

This has been the Mutation I've been looking forward to the most. I shall be having a field day in-game.

We should get some Bay12 (DFC) games going, I haven't played this game enough with friendly people I sort of know. Ooh, maybe even get the Mutation night idea going that I had a few weeks ago.

What mode is that in? The Blog post doesn't say. Is it Versus? I really hope it is.

I haven't tested... but I'll bet you 10 dorfbucks it isn't Versus. You'd have to have 4 AI SI... and it'd basically be "Versus: Hardmode", which I doubt your average casual gamer would like. I'm expecting Campaign.




And yeah, some kind of "Mutation night", or even just a general "Game night" would be cool. L4D is only really fun when you've got interesting people playing it with you. (Just make sure to plan them in advance - I tend to ignore those "Hey guiz git in here nao!" announcements from the Community group.  )

I try to avoid those when I'm making the announcements. But I can't stop those other people!

We'll just have a regular L4D2 (Mutation) Night. Like we (used to) have TF2 Sunday. We could also alternate between L4D and L4D2 if people want to, but people will have to tell me in advance so I can change the events.

Friday or Saturday might be best. Friday will screwed over once in a while though when Valve Time kicks in with the Mutations. And what time? Something along the lines of 20-22 pm GMT has worked well with TF2 and that suits me well too, as a GMT+2 resident.
