This was on one of the "Important" planets, that show up darker on the map. I'm tempted to say they're not randomly generated. There was no scanner-message about the world, but when I landed on it and finally managed to get off again, sure enough it was darkened.
Is this supposed to be some world of drug influences?
The critters worked, but the terrain did not.
I also found
darkened 'Colony World' where the members talked about a person who bought alien artefacts, and a stockpile of alien weaponry that they sold. But there were no shops (indicated), and the colonists all died during earthquakes. That kind of seems like a potential bug there.
There should be a different indicator for
bumping into invisible walls. Let's just say that got old fast.
The Epsilon Eriandi corp will randomly become hostile to you if you hang out too long at their planets. I was
stuck on a "sticky surface" planet that was also owned by the Epsilon Eriandi corp, and couldn't progress very far because their guards massacred me. And on another planet, I was exploring around them, and then suddenly all dozen of them ganged up on me for no reason - "Epsilon Eriandi Elite Guard suddenly looks aggressive! Epsilon Eriandi guard goes to help his friend x 10" type things...
Killing one crew member of a ship doesn't make the ship hostile to you. This technically could allow you to take over an entire ship, one member at a time.
I got a
Mining Colony needs Medical Supplies world, but there were no tunnels and no mining buildings on it.
Starting with a hover-platform is a bajillion times more useful than most other starting equipments.
And finally...
I was on my most successful run yet... Had upgraded to an Explorer ship, and had mostly maxed upgrades, a level 4 pilot. Was running around trying to find a place to buy a hover-platform (needed more for my redshits) and got a "A huge ship is approaching..." message. Hit n to try to avoid, get sucked into combat, escaped, and then suddenly the game thought I was a pirate. I hadn't entered into combat with any ships that weren't pirate fighters or alien jellyfish, and had escaped from the huge ship without fighting it, technically.
Edit: Actually, I remember why the game thought I was a pirate now.
I was attempting to reel in an asteroid when I got a message, something about "A ship appears from behind the asteroid!" and I failed to run. It was a merchant ship that ambushed me for some reason and then suddenly I was the pirate.
