The only advantages to that are created wealth (which is temporary, until it's eaten) and savings of barrels.  If he doesn't care that much about the one and has the other covered...

It's more playstyle, nothing critical.

And happier dwarves.

Toady, how much of DF is inspired by Labyrinth? Is Armok actually David Bowie? Because that would simultaneously be disturbing and awesome.

I know what's missing, the fact that you have no champions with 125 dwarves! That's crazy!

i'd have thought someone would have mentioned the large amount of jewelers. I usually have 1 or 2 at most even in gem abundant fortresses

You don't have enough pump operators.  19 peasants? Come-on...

It clears up the job list too!

Your fort is named "Soundblockade" and you lack sonic seige weaponry or a composer for your many dwarves to sing their enemies away?

Well dwarves, being cave-dwellers most are, usually have low frequency voices (think Gimli). Well, have enough dwarves singing in unison, they'll hit a resonance frequency and crack the land under the feet of their attackers, or resonate them apart, or summon a volcano.

One theory at least. It could be another effective method of mining. You know, just like the elves, except with magma instead. Definitely less weak than elves collecting parts the trees just give them. Dwarves would at least summon the power of magma, through music, playing rock instruments.

Not really. I kill them on a regular basis. In adventure games, I visit them and torch their countryside stabbing their faces with their own arrows and then go bowling for food using their skulls to hunt game in their mythical lands.

Mmm... unicorn meat. ;D

I was just theorizing alternatives just based on the fort's name.
