Meet Onul Olinuling
Sure, his beard is inferior to the other dwarves, but he lives a mostly normal life. But, because of his smaller beard, the other dwarves never listen to him. This makes him sad, so one day he decided that he needed to prove himself to the other dwarves, to show that he was more dwarf than he looked. But, no matter what came to mind, he didn't think it would be dwarfy enough to impress the others.

One day, while Onul was sparing in the barracks.

Suddenly the "OH SHIT" alarm goes off, and all dwarves LEG IT into the fortress.
Onul had just taken a hammer to the head and it kind of messed up his brain a tad, and he wasn't hearing things correctly. So when he saw all the dwarves running away, he though they were running from him. This made him sad, so he decided to take a walk in the forest. When out of no where, he sees a gigantic red dragon. Thinking to himself "This could be my chance to prove myself to the others!" So, he bull rushed the dragon.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The dragon spewed his mighty fire, but Onul used his beard to deflect it back at the dragon, and he quickly counter attacked.

The dragon quickly succumbs to Onuls vicious attack.

and Onul walks away without a scratch...

Some say, after that battle his hear- Uh, beard grew 10 times the size...

Tl;Dr : Dragon appears, I yell "OH SHIT", tell the dwarves to LEG IT. One dwarf decides to be an ass hat and charge the dragon, I gave up hope on him right away, he ended up taking the fire blast to the face, quickly killing the dragon and leaving with just a scratch.

Sorry that the story kind of died at the end. Also, sorry I didn't have more pictures of the dragon from before hand, I didn't think that was going to happen... I can assure you, he was unscratched. I'm now currently building him a 20 story tower made out of clear glass, gold, platinum and assorted gems.

You know, if you turn off temperature, I don't think Dragon Fire can hurt anything at all.

Eheh, I have deja vu! In one of my fortresses a mediocre spearsdwarf killed a dragon alone, and the dragon wasn't able to injure him at all. It was an epic -yet very fast- battle. That was the point, when I decided to modify the RAWs...the vanilla beasts are dying hella fast usually.  :D

It happen just before the dragon turned up.

Apparently.

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.

I think you're all missing the important part, which is how awesome the dragons name is.

On a related subject this is why I jacked up the power of my megabeasts by a significant amount. You know it's good when you embark on a cave housing a titan and he proceeds smack dwarves out of the park.

He's always been a bit funny in the head. Probably left over from the last Orc attack.

Edit: Oh, I just said smacked in the head sparing in the barracks so it would make a tad bit of sense.

But the question is: if he had brain damage, why was he sparring?

Toady, how much of DF is inspired by Labyrinth? Is Armok actually David Bowie? Because that would simultaneously be disturbing and awesome.

Dunno. It's only really a scratch, nothing serious.
