Strangest Demands.

What are the strangest things your nobles can come up with?

This happened in my latest fort.

Here's one.

Wants item in Dining Room.             (It doesn't say what, and I built one of everything in the room to be safe.  It didn't work)

Make Glass items (3/3)
Export of Glass items prohibited.

Note - this map is not only lacking in sand, there's also no soil accessible to me, so I can't tag any soil layers with sand.

Well, mine's banned export of earrings, windows (never made any of either), warhammers (only one of my dwarves had one) and mandated the creation of 3 idols (Armok knows why).

3 idols, a bed in the dining room, unnamed items... you've got the dwarven version of Caligula.

Have fun with that. ;D

Known bug. If you've built everything you can think of and it hasn't gone away, just ensure your justice system is properly crippled prepared.

You can add the [SOIL_SAND] tag to stone. Just remember to remove it before you generate a world, or you'll have granite deserts (which can be awesome). Also note that while the tag is in place, the stone tiles will behave like soil: it'll mine out in one frame without producing rocks, and you can build farms on it.

The noble from boatmurdered comes to mind.  The one demanding the production of mini-forges, and the denial of exporting mini-forges.

I have to wonder if this isn't intentional in terms of coding; one of my current nobles both demanded the construction of aluminum items and banned the export of same.

He probably wants more aluminum items around the fort, but can't figure out how to import his own.

Makes much more since with weapons.

Make Spears... Use them.

As a trap.  In his room.

Actually, that's how I deccorate my nobel's rooms in the first place.  Since the spear requesting dwarf likes spears, it's the most efficient use of their value, since a masterwork mechanism is nice and all, but ten copper spears counted twice is good as well.

Anyone ever try to K.O. a noble dwarf by their own luxurious trap? Seeing as they trigger when a dwarf collapses before one.

Executed by their own hand (request).

EDIT:
If it's a cage trap, sell the noble. They must fetch quite a price. ;D

What about upright spears/spikes in a Noble's room?

Nobles base all their mandates on their preferences. (not demands - demands merely produce an unhappy thought as far as I can tell, and often require specific materials as well as item types).

One important thing to remember about the "item" bug is the part in Nist Akath when the captain wants an item in his bedroom.  Mayday tried putting a black bronze statue in (reflecting the captain's preferences), but the thing that did it was a masterwork bronze statue (from a bronze colossus  ;D).

I think I once had a ban on the export of pitchblende items.
