Decorating with an artifact mechanism
« on: April 28, 2009, 11:11:50 am »

One of my favorite dwarfs just withdrew from society and made a hypervaluable mechanism. Since my trap defences are all but set up, I'm going to use it to decorate the makers bedroom. Would a lever, gear assembly, or a trap serve as a better decoration? Or is their no between them when used purely as decorations?

A weapon trap will also add the value of the weapons you put in it. I like to decorate with my Hammerers' "misplaced" armaments.

Thanks... now where did I put that diamond studded rose gold spear? :)

Wonder if anybody ever made a trap with an artifact Mechanism and 10 artifact weapons?

That would probably kill every creature in the region when it goes off.

The dwarven economy is just a stand-in, from what I understand. As it is, it represents an actual economic system about as well as poison ivy represents a salad.

Traps. They clean up useless weapons, can deal with bezerk dwarves, and maybe even invaders.
I really really want to see what happens when someone goes mad, runs into the dining hall for a killing spree, and is ripped apart by an artifact mechanism powering ten wooden longswords.

A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Heh.  "Stabbity-choppity-piercity", it remarked, with some satisfaction.

That almost might be worth digging a special path to invite attackers to experience it.

(I wonder if only Legendary dwarves will be allowed to clean it when it gets jammed?)

You just hear this *click* noise and then it rains pieces of Bronze Colossus.
