O, I've stolen everything from a elven caravan and chopped down so many trees that they gave me a warning, and shopped down trees
just for the sake of provoking the elves. Now it's been a season, but when can I expect their siege? Or do I need to do something more
drastic?

Your best bet is to kill the diplomat somehow when he next shows up.

However, I don't think elves ever siege; they just ambush.

No, they do siege. It's just that there's no siege announcement like with goblins because they start off in ambush-mode and it would ruin the point if an announcement was made.

However, it's still a siege, because during such events 3-4 squads will usually show up (or more, if you're really 'lucky').

Yeah, this is a necessary step (unless your civ was at war with them to begin with).  Chopping down extra trees might be a good way of making the diplomat show up again, but they're kind of erratic.

don't use the wood for anything- they're more pissed about how many logs you have than the total trees chopped down.

Do they send more than one diplomat? I killed the first one, have engravings of him burning to death in the magma pipe, and am now wondering if I'll get to kill another.
