Goblin transport.
« on: April 27, 2009, 04:57:07 pm »

Okay, so I don't have any problems transporting most goblins who stupidly get themselves caged... but is there any way to transport goblin thieves/master thieves? Generally as soon as I get them out of their cage, they break loose and are killed.
I also haven't figured out exactly how to disarm them while in their cages either.
Any way to transport the slippery gobbos, or at least, equip them with little more than a rolled up (Pig tail sock)?

(d)->(b)->(d) mark the cage. Your dwarfs will strip the gobbo in the cage nekkid.

And you should be able to just lug around the gobbos in their cages.

To Disarm

HOW TO DISSARM

Step 1.) Put the captured Goblins/Elves in an animal stock pile
Step 2.) Using the d-b-d function select the cages for dumping
Step 3.) Using the i key make a small dump zone near the animal stock pile
Step 4.) Using the k key remove the dump function on all the cages

Your dwarves are now disarming the enemy.

EDIT: Snap, some one beat me to it.

Meaning I need to assign their cages to a space outside of the stockpile first, right? I'll try doing it without first...

Also, is there a way to transfer the thieves from one cage to another? I have just been moving all my gobbos over to one specific cage so I can release them into their prison, but the thieves seen impossible to transfer in this way. I suppose I could always just move all their cages over.

Edit: Ah, nevermind, that worked just fine. Thanks!

How to retrieve their bones:
Disarm them as shown above.
Station military next to cage.
Order them pitted.
Order the mess hauled.

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Ok so this is an old thread, but relevant to my question:

How do you 'pit' a goblin?  I've never worried about cage traps before but have started playing with them and caught a few goblins.  Built a training pit for my military (should work better I think since normal training is kind of borked) but not sure how to get them in.  I guess I could just build a cage at the bottom and then release them via Lever, but is there any easier way to get all the goblins there without moving/linking 20 cages?

Oh and how do you disarm them?  I know it says in this very thread how to do it, but that's not working.  Dwarves aren't even going near the cages after I d > b > d them (and then use 'k' to undump them, both in the description screen or the overview screen),  Is it broken in .03?

All stuff they wear is emerged as forbidden in .31.x
So you need to un-forbid it first, with d-b-c, then dump with d-b-d, and then un-dump the cages (easiest way for that i found is z-stocks-cages-undump all).

Pitting is done by creating pit zone, and then assigning goblin to the pit in 'P'it info screen.
