So sprite work will have to be put off for the weekend... got my girlfriends sister coming into town today so i doubt i`ll get much time to draw.

But with overwhelming support for the tree hugging hippies, they`re now in first place. Already started on them yesterday after a few posts so after we lose the sister I can get back into them! :P

(Or if i can find time to sneak off...)

All Ican say is I looked at it and kinda WTF'ed at the kobolds, I might consider it though once it's done, but I must say, as a DnD fan, Kobolds tend to be like lizards....at least last I saw...three foot tall lizardish dragonlike beings without wings...so kinda like draconic looking lizards...

But that's Dungeons & Dragons, and this is Dwarf Fortress. Things are different.

Here's Toady on kobold morphology.  It's obviously not the final word or anything, but it might interest you:

Quote
# Core90, PROPER KOBOLDS, (Future): Of course, this means different things to different people. To us, a proper kobold is neither a chihuahua man nor a mini-draconian, but instead sort of a small mammaloreptilian humanoid with pointy ears and yellow eyes with a penchant for trickery and mischief, context-based sublanguage, poisonous critter collection, traps and kleptomaniacal hoarding.

That D&D kobold has morphed from a chihuahua dog headed man thing to something more like a yoda ewok thing to some kind of kewl backward kneed dinosaur man (or are the kewl backward knees just high ankles...).  We're kind of partial to the one in the middle (you can tell by the picture).  Now, during this time, it was beginning the change from mammal to reptile, and so was just another "humanoid" goblinish thing, possibly laying eggs, possibly live births.  I don't remember what we decided for Dwarf Fortress, wrote it down a couple weeks ago during a cave planning phone call -- not that it really matters due to the raw object files being changeable and eventually randomizable.  It could end up being eggs just to introduce that to a humanoid species, though it could just as easily be done with proper lizardmen.

Good to hear from you Beefmo!! :)

I vote for finishing the elves.

Yeh I'll make some jobs for the medieval humans. Furthermore I just knocked up a templar/monk sheet and some ideas for high elves:

remember: elves use only wooden weapons and armour.

Don't worry about the bruiser looking dwarfish, IF you change anything maybe make bare chested. don't ever give beard though. :p

Quick question:
Wouldn't it be a good idea to add a couple of extra unused sprites for the upcoming new health care jobs?

I think a whitish (or bloody) apron is mandatory.
Maybe dwarven doctors wear red: it hides the stains better.

I imagine dwarves perform surgery like they do mining:
using small pickaxes and wooden supports for bracsplinting, using encircling bands of cloth to bind wounds, studding plaster casts with spikes of onyx, etc.
Maybe doing amputations like they cut trees: with an axe.
And aneastetics by applying a big rock to the base of the skull. (alcohol only makes a dwarf sober, imagine effect of other sedatives)

I woulda voted for elves but they're already first place.  :)  So I'll vote for animals after that, if you have a mind to!  Good to hear from ya, Beefmo.
