I have done the basic military for some medieval humans based off the old human base:

For the crossbows and bows I simply used the current human weapons because im lazy :P, and others such as the elites axe are based off dwarf weapons. I tried to use some orginal ideas such as the mace and the military pick instead of a hammer, also the helmets are done by me as is the new armour design, I think they look ok overall.

Hmm Ill have a go at trying that in a bit.

In the meanwhile here are some fortress guard/ royal guard ideas.

I personally prefer the right fortress guard and the left elite, also the royal guard looks pretty good with the current helm in my opinion. But I dont know what to do for the elite royal so any ideas are very welcome.

It is, freakin' awesome. Can't wait for more...

But I really can't help but wonder...

Has Beefmo bought some pants too big?

EDIT:

Man, Beefmo, you need to mod a graphical tile for the Michael Jackson set...
In honour of his death, of course...

Ot: WOW! It just randomly started hailing like craaaaazy... They're the size of small grapes! Scary as hell..

I don't personally use graphics sets myself, but I often keep up to date on them just because I like looking at them.

Anyways, I have a suggestion. One of the things that the GBA Fire Emblem games do to distinguish similar units from each other is by using different facing for their sprites. Like a regular sword guy will face left, but then an elite version of that same sword guy will face right. Since there's a similar thing going on here with the military units in Dwarf Fortress, it might not be a bad idea to switch the facing on the elite versions of the military units so that they can be distinguished from their ordinary counterparts not just by their decorated armor and weaponry but also their facing.

I don't know if something similar could be done for civilian professions, like a carpenter turns legendary and he then faces right or something.

:o I'm loving the look of this. I definitely have a mod graphic request waiting for when you're done with the standards.

I'm wondering if Beefmo plans to complete the elves for those who want to play them in civ mode.

Heck, I'm wondering if Beefmo is still alive.  :)

Beefmo is/was working on "A Vile Force of Darkness" part 2; judging by the fact that he said its taking 6 times as long as the first part did to make, its probably about twice the length with 4 or 5 scenes instead of just one.
