But Mayans could tell future! How else could they have prepared so well for climate change?
No.  Wrong.  More recent research indicates that 2012 was the date at which the Mayans would have drawn up a new calender, along with much celebrating, including stuff like local sports and feasting.  It was not meant to be any indicator of the end of the world.
I think that there was more death and chaos than sports and feasting in Mayan tradition. The change of the calendar was a change of the age, and ages tended to end in near-destruction of the world. This is the fifth age, and the previous ones ended in floods, volcanoes, and stuff like that. Supposedly the fifth age is the last one. Though I could be remembering all this wrongly; I'm too lazy to wiki it now.
Wasn't that the Aztecs too?

Could be, I'm not sure. I think Aztecs might have taken the calendar and the story around it from Mayans.

Bet they'll say something about how the calender was just inaccurate and the end of the world will come shortly.

Like that priest dude that got rich off it.

Careful:  the universe as a whole has a twisted sense of humor.

Regardless of whether there's anything other than science driving it (we're not talking about that here).

Whew that was close! Everyone knows the Mayans also predicted the world would end in an internet flamewar.
