Stupid question.
« on: April 26, 2009, 11:16:28 pm »

Is there any way to thaw the very edges of a brook, or is this a job for tweak?

You would have to channel magma under where you want thawed out, exactly 1 z-level below. In this case, it would be:
Z-Layer 0: The surface of the brook (Frozen)
Z-Layer -1: The actual water (Wall of Ice)
Z-Layer -2: Where you would channel the magma to.

Yeah, I already did that, I meant the edges where the brook enters and leaves the map, I went ahead and tried carving fortifications, we'll see if that fixes it. :D

Since I hear magma doesn't flow off the edge of the map, you could floor over the brook with magma proof bridges and put magma over the top of it.

And now for another problem:
For some reason, my brooks tiles turned from warm to cold over the winter, and I'd rather not tweak EVERY tile of the brook, whut happened there? :/

Even if magma doesn't flow off the map it should still flow into the fortification squares.

I'll remember that if I ever embark on a cold FOREVER map again.

Edit: Well, I decided to do the impossible, see the invisible!
Err, I'm gonna just make the 'in' edge of the brook subterranean with tweak, and then it will flow into my dwarfmade underground river. :D
