Shifts for military
« on: April 26, 2009, 09:50:41 pm »

Be able to specifically say which month/seasons a squad is standing on duty.

As it is, I'd like to have a squad of soldiers be able to patrol the gates or the outlying areas to prevent ambushes, but then they wouldn't get any training, and they'd probably be rendered ineffective once they run out of rations/water/energy and run back to base every other minute.

I think being able to specify the times instead of having to micromanage would allow easier shift-changes.

I like it. This is the real reason I don't use military in my forts; I can't have them on duty where their needed and forget about them, because of those bad 'on duty' thoughts.

This is one of the upcoming features for the Squads section in the List:

# Add yearly squad schedules (on duty, standing down, off duty, training, in rotations)

It would be good if the guards/soldiers also drink/eat on beforehand, so that they won't break the patrol and so on.

Just as long as that's "let me eat before my shift starts", not "oh, the old patrol just went off duty, let me eat now...nom...nom...fort is unguarded...nom..."
