Also, let's say on a theoretical turn one, I produce spears and shields. Which of the following timelines is accurate?

A_
1, shields/spears produced, soldiers produced, soldiers are usable and go exploring

B_
1, shields/spears produced
2, soldiers produced, soldiers are usable and go exploring

C_
1, shields/spears produced
2, soldiers produced
3, soldiers are usable and go exploring

I'm thinking B, myself?

Hey, can I research weapon/armor upgrades or whatever at my Alchemists Lab? For instance, can I change my turn and be like, "Roawr, I research chemicals to coat the spears so they cause hideous burns to flesh on contact!" (read: ACID SPEARS!) or "Roawr, I research hallucinogens to coat my spears with so if someone gets injured by them, they start trippin' balls!" or something like that?

Or alchemical treatments to make my wooden weapons better/stronger/sharper? Or steroids for my warhorses?
Oh, please do. I'd love to see some more input about what kinds of crazy directions people want to take their technology. (With a de-emphasis on the crazy part - don't go completely nuts, okay?) That goes for everyone, by the way!

As for the unit production timeline, it's actually more like:
1: shields/spears produced, soldiers produced
2: soldiers are usable and go exploring

Only makes a difference if you're attacked on turn 1.

Oh, and speaking of attacks, looking at the battle about to take place has brought me to the conclusion that taking a whole turn to reach another player's city and attacking at the end of the next is just too slow; it gives the defender too big an advantage. I'm changing the rules so that, if there's PVP combat going on, a combat sub-turn occurs after the main turn, and combatants need to post their orders before the next turn starts.

Pandarsenic does not have that many forces.

Nevermind. Military workshops cost 2 labor, not 4. His previous turn listed it as half done.

For example, if player A decides to pillage improvements and player B decides to defend his town, B should still get to defend his improvements, but his forces would be at a disadvantage. If B decided to defend his town and A decided to retreat, B probably wouldn't be able to catch A.

It seems a bit strange for the late poster react to the first poster's action, and might delay future combat rounds if both players decide to wait and get the advantage. If the first player gets to react to the second player's action, then it just gets silly.

Agreed. Also, something just exploded in Turn 7, check the thread for details.
