The zefies like dwarven-esque naming systems. Fortress isn't much right now (compared to what the zefies usually like). A double zefie height (sixish feet) surrounds the entire city, which is built on a large, if gentle hill. The very center of the city (top of the hill) has the government building, which is in turn similar to a classic castle (less high turrets though). The urbanish areas are close to the castle, with most of the houses and agricultural land further out.

Kashyyk, Virex, Luke, sorry, but you're too late. Little, it looks to me like mainiac got his civ up before you edited your post, and it's quite a bit more in-depth than yours to boot, so he gets the last spot. You get first dibs on any new spots that open up, though.

For everyone else: The game is full, signups are closed.

NME, Panda, Strife, RPB, Nirur Torir, and mainiac are our starting players - but feel free to go back and elaborate on any aspect of your civ you think could use more detail.

I'll post the basic rules shortly, and then get to work on everyone's starting positions. Good luck, everyone!

Is it just me or is there a lot of copying of my "scavengers of lost Age of Glory knowledge and tech/magic/alchemy" idea?

You can get more leaders as the game goes on. Probably should have mentioned that. As for copying your idea, let's be fair, it's not exactly hard to come up with independently. (I will have to stipulate that the only significant thing the Jerrans have scrounged is Reynus's Secret, though, just for variety's sake. Speaking of which, do PM me the details; if it's what I think it is there should be no problems. It's not going to be as overwhelmingly superior to standard masonry as you've described, though.)

The Jerrans have one secret from the past, Reynus's Secret, which is pivotal to their history, and a small smattering of architecture.  The rest of their studies is just typical first generation scholastics, geometry, early keeled sailing ships, etc.

What I think is more concerning is that a culture drawing from a repository of ancient knowledge should obviously outpace the guys who are figuring this stuff out for themselves.  Either we are going to have to augment our research by likewise uncovering ancient secrets or you'll rapidly outpace us.

I was aware that it wasn't hard to come up with independently.
That's why, assuming that we'd want to limit the appearance of surviving stuff from the Age of Glory:
1) I made it and posted it as fast as I could <.<
2) I gave it a very simple limit on it - the Citadel is almost entirely locked away and the Falcons of Khas can't get to it. Thus, the scavenging results are easily limited in that they have to gain access to, translate, and apply the things they're accessing.

I haven't had time to check over the Reynus's Secret thing in depth, so all I saw is that it was another society involving the utilization of Age of Glory knowledge.

This makes roughly a half-and-half scavenger/nonscavenger split thing, right?

The Jerran's aren't scavengers.  They salvaged one piece of useful Old Empire knowledge a hundred years ago and it didn't come with an instruction manual.  Beyond Reynus's Secret, they had nothing but the knowledge of a small farming village.  Reynus and the others started with a blank slate.

Anywho, Strife, both the Jerrans and the Zelfies seem to be fortress oriented.  It seems to me that two fortress oriented settlements would have shared their knowledge a little bit, even if contact was sporadic.  I was thinking that the more militaristic Zelfies would have shared some of their knowledge of warfare, i.e. what makes a wall defensible, while the more scholarly Jerrans would have shared some of their knowledge of architecture, i.e. how to build a stronger wall.  That way it explains how they both have the fortress builder thing going on.  It could also create a flavor difference between the two, we could suppose that practical Zelfie designs are more effective against assaults while the Jerran learning makes their walls harder to destroy or siege.
