I already wrote a decent look through of what you can do seriously.

My purpose is already served here. It doesn't matter what you do, you're still attacking someone who isn't me. (Obviously, if the zefies actually knew about it they'd be pissed, but the fluffs don't know, no?)

Zefie strategy here would somewhat non-confrontational. You opponent has neglected any sort of fortifications. If he isn't an idiot (you'll have to tell him this, by the way), most of his men will have to stay back to guard the city. So, smash up his infrastructure. Go in two groups. Warriors and Wolves, and then the other two. Attack two different infrastructure points. See if you can burn his fire flowers away or something. If he tries to attack back, you might have the chance to stomp him. The wolf riders are more than the equal of any one of his units. Of course, you may also want to attack two close by spots, then flank and destroy his counter raid group. If you can, put someone on overwatch, if everyone leaves the city, burn it.

Hey, that's more useful then I expected, thanks. I hadn't considered that he might just sit back in his city protectively. This deserves more careful pondering.

Just for reference, I'm pretty sure burning my fire flowers can only end badly for both of us.

Pray.  ;D

You're at a pretty serious disadvantage here. Actually, not as bad as I thought. You can whip up two more units this turn. Do that, screw food production (any more than you need). See if you can spare the manpower to whip up a watchtower or fortress (if you had zefie power, you could do both)  :P.

Keep two units in close. Have one patrol of your cavalry looking for his warrior or  archer being by itself. The other units go out in force to see if they can meet up with a group of his forces, hopefully in range of horse support. Everyone stays close enough to the city to pull back and defend it as well.

I didn't get mountain goat attackers?  :(
Oh well.
Back to work on steel.

Get the attack turns in, I want to see what happens.

No, not the watermill! I needed that to live! I shall have revenge by turning the lizards into powerful magic! They shall regret their misdeeds.

...

Wait, my explorer did something useful in battle?

Unexpected.

Edit to avoid double posting - We should stop talking in the game thread. Please. It makes me think there's been a new turn, and then I get sad. That being said, I'm going to have trouble sleeping tonight if the battle turn isn't up. I must know if I'm doomed our not! A major loss at this battle will probably cost me the war.

Vanigo, is there any rounding with my 25% bonus, or does a .75 get turned into a 0? I could see it working as a tiebreaker, if nothing else.

I must ask: would I have to research mounted archery?

Did my scouts find anything, by the way?
I sent a unit of bowmen east (and one human on a horse, but he isn't that important).

Oh, so you did. Let's see here... foothills, mountains to the south, and grasslands to the north. You didn't find any noteworthy resources, although of course you didn't exactly make a thorough survey.

Nirur, your +25% attack bonus is already figured into your units' stats.

Luke: No, go for it. Anything bigger than a shortbow poses some difficulties, though.

Oh, wow, I have even less to fear than I initially thought.

Well-fought, Nirur Torir, but I think I won our match of Rock Paper Fire. :I

I think that there should be some penalty for disbanding units. Else, you could effectively keep two units disorganized, just commission them if someone attacks.

Well, I was thinking units over a certain age should gain an "experienced" status, and that units who've gone through a certain number of battles should gain a "veteran" status, with small stat bonuses for each.
