Is the ocean good for anything besides killing my people and depriving me of more useful terrain?
Well, you can swim in it or you can piss in it or you can dump trash in it....

Unique resources (luxuries, at least)? I don't think the ocean per se actually does anything to hurt you anyhow; at worst you're down a couple points of wood for fishing villages vs. irrigating basic plains.

Does "animation theory"  do anything practical (liiiiike... automated labor? ;D ), or would finding actual uses require further research?

The ember roses don't do anything yet, but once you finish up Fire Alchemy you'll be able to use them to make fire-related stuff.

Do I have to harvest them or do they act like obsidian?

Everyone's got their turns in, but I can't promise an update tonight; it's pretty late and they take hours to finish.

Once again, I'll be gone until the 9th. So, yeah. If you could roll my research and random event stuff in the next eight hours or so Vanigo, I could write my next turn up as well. Otherwise, I guess that I'll have to make a couple of scenarios.
