Damn the thread reply notice and damn being behind on my email!
No, I'm not being pushed by Christians at all.
Christian lobbyists at the time, but honestly, where in those amended words (The ones people actually say. When have you heard them include the "Blest... blah blah blah" part at a baseball game or anywhere for that matter in modern times?) did it name the Christian God? Anyone else could have seen any other (well, probably not polytheist) religion behind the "In God we trust" and "one nation under God" everyone is exposed to. That whole post was completely irrelevant to your point of Christians pushing you besides that you have Christians on your mind and there's a bit of religion in the pledge. Really, it's pretty damned bland what's in there already that we use. It's almost a catch all for the religious people (sorry polytheists), and really, what if it was removed? Then it's "OH GOD THE ATHEISTS ARE PUSHING ME" and blah blah blah. Hell, the rest of the phrases in the pledge doesn't have religion in it. There's your bit of it. Be happy there's a part in it that conforms to you as an individual in a sea of others. For the love of-, that bit of the pledge is agknowladging religious people's existence and presence in the country. It's not even trying to advertise. If you find the very presence of a group "pushing" you, that's the same part of the brain responsible for racism that's creating your intolerance. And many religious people are guilty of the damned intolerance. It's a fucking mess is what it is.
All intolerance should be directed at intolerant people. Everyone's the one to blame. If people could finally realize that, we could all implode and be done with it.
"Corrupted by Religion"
Corrupted by _____.
Everything corrupts in some damned manner. Politics is probably worse, but that's my opinion.
Now Christianity is bogged down by all the MURDERDEATHKILL in the past.
MURDERDEATHKILL, like the MURDERDEATHKILL that occurs 24/7 across the globe by whatever means and reasons people can leverage? Nah, that's not even worth noticing unless it's attached to something you are arguing about. Supposedly good intentions. Hell, Hitler thought he had good intentions. Hell, homeless shelters think they have good intentions. Take your pick of those two, but never realize that both exist at the same time and sometimes even from the same sources. Please stop using those two arguments. (Not at you or anyone really but a general thought.)
It's not bogged by anything other than selective illuminations.
