It was just an example of how literal you can take a text, regardless the origin of the text.

I wonder what it really say btw, because in French "you shall not murder" is translated as "tu ne tuera point", which itself translate as "you shall not kill". So war not being murder doesn't hold with this translation. I wonder what was the original meaning.

I find it amusingly ironic that my religion teacher used to bicker on the meaning of a word in the bible when the translation is that unreliable. Of course, most concept and undertone are bound to have changed. Several time. During the Long time that book was being written.

Unrelated : if someone still ignore i here, the coran can be counted as the last tome. So ... yeah. If god is real, he just LOVE irony.

You do know that the US is not officially a theocratic nation, right?  Somewhere along the lines the religious folks squeezed in some language here and there (ie: Dollar Bills, Pledge of Allegiance, Monuments ... besides the monuments, these things never had "God" in them until they were inserted by some religious nut.)

Thank you. It's a rather stupid word, really.

How can words be stupid?

I don't know, there are just some parts of the English language I do not agree with, such as fiddling.

Vesicle is another of these words.

Vesicle comes from Latin. Most of English is hacked together from other historic languages.
