Well, it seems that Indonesia will be the ‼NEW‼ Madagaskar, with the health official says that they are going to

"WAAA SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING" in the radio, this morning.

(No, not really, but they are going to check up EVERYTHING, just in case. Also, since there are no swines here, I don't think it will be an epidemic.

Actually, several schools in Texas have already shut down, including all of San Antonio. Mexico City is currently in practical lock down. The WHO is taking this extremely seriously. I Can't Explain why they seem to be more concerned about this than The Last Time when we had the Avian Flu outbreak, but I guess you can't just Substitute one for the other. It's probably A Legal Matter. The Kids Are Alright, at least, given that the virus seems to target young adults.

I know a lot of people seem to think that these things never turn out as bad as epidemiologists predict, panic the first time, then say they Won't Get Fooled Again. Hell, I Don't Even Know Myself, really. Flu goes around ever year and When I Was a Boy, I caught it maybe twice. Maybe it's just more of a problem In The City, or something.

i already had a 39.5 C° flu that wouldn't go down in ANY way.... that is enough for this year. and since i believe that is enough, i am safe from flu.

Three days from now we'll know for sure. However, I can now say that the Mexican Swine Flu strain has hit Europe, with Laboratory confirmed cases in the UK and Spain.

Also, since this strain of flu is distinctly separate from other strains, in that it's genetic mix is a combination of Human, Swine, and Avian flu in a way not seen before, you will not have a natural immunity to the disease.

It should be noted that there are absolutely no deaths attributed to the disease outside of Mexico. My suspicion is only people without immediate access to emergency room health care have much to worry about, but since we do not have access to the the backgrounds of the individuals who died, It's hard to say anything with certainty.

I've been hearing that this swine flu could be another strain of the "Spanish flu" from 1918, you know; the one that killed people by making their Immune system go nuts and clog their lungs? That one.

No, the only similarity this has to the 1918 Spanish Flu is the age group that seems most susceptible to the illness. Like the Spanish Flu, healthy adults are more likely to be infected than the elderly, and young children, which is distinctly unlike most common strains which are more dangerous to the weak immune systems of the elderly, and the undeveloped ones of children.
