Well, the support method could always still work, however, if you want to multi-destruct, it can still somewhat be applied. The lack of floors on both ends prevent the "prisoners" from escaping their place (then again, carving away the path out the door also helps).
Anyway, if anyone feels like leveling an entire city simultaneously (but still retaining land), you can always apply this to all targeted buildings, and flip the lever to take them all out. Hold the town ransom.

I got another interesting idea, It's a method of execution-cave-in that only destroys the interior of buildings, allowing for easier salvage of buildings (especially towers). However, doing this to dark towers may prove a bit challenging, but possible.
