Took a break for a bit, then went back on.  I found a floating eye and took my bow out to kill it.  No corpse.   :(

That wasn't very great detail, I'll do that next time.

I always zap wands down a long hallway.

I always zap wands at monsters. The very worst thing that can happen is that the wand is polymorph, and they turn into something much worse than they were.

Oh, I'm the best Nethack player ever! I eat a vampire bat, forgetting that they're poisonous and lose 2 strength, then attack an acid blob, forgetting that they'll rust my blade. then I zap a wand at myself thinking that it's turn invisible, when in fact it's slow monster, AND in order to destroy a statue of a werewolf (that I had turned to stone with a cockatrice corpse moments earlier) I adjusted my wand of striking to the z key, and just held it down to try to get the last charge out of it, then get fricking scorched to death by a DAMN pyrolisk that I conveniently forgot to kill earlier.

I'm never trying Sokoban without a hard gem ever again.

I lived longer than Sir Josh!  Woo!  Although I'm only like 2000 turns in.  I'll play more tommorow because I'm about done with today.

I always like to keep a notepad file of EVERYTHING important/could be important. It helps out alot, especially if you screw up and get your brain sucked out.

Here's what I had for my most recent ascension, a 5 conduct Monk (note: could contain spoilers for deeper levels):

My new, less retarded Samurai is doing fine. I hate to find out that smoky potions are things that enemies will drink as well.

From very deliberate, persistent coaxing, I've managed to get my pet to kill some watchmen, and scored myself some good armor (including a +4 small shield), and I've managed to get up to -11 AC. Also, through sheer luck, I found an amulet of reflection. I ID'd it through the "Bounce a magic missile off a wall, and see if it bounces off of you" trick.

On dungeon level 6 though, I was really lucky to survive a freak encounter with a black dragon. I didn't have the amulet then, so I had to fight it to the death, as stepping away from it might trigger a disintegrating blast, which would end me outright. Fortunately for me, I won.

Once I get a hold of a hard gem, I'll do Sokoban.

But yeah, you'll need more AC Toon. 4 AC is what  Samurai start with.

Why do you need a hard gem for Sokoban?

Overpreparedness, mainly. To make handling the gaggles of monsters all that easier.

For some reason Nethack has been lagging really badly for me lately.  So badly that I don't want to play it.
