It was a fresh corpse, I had literally just killed it.

I think it was poisonous because it was a newt, not because it was rotten.

Newt is not poisonous; in fact it's good food for casters because there's a chance to increase your max MP.

You're probably eating something else - either some other corpse, or there are multiple newt corpses on the tile.

As to why you need that, maybe in NetHack we all have Bloody Mess... so it's pretty hard to tell.

Yargh... My human Valkyrie was char level 6 when she died. My dog got killed literally in the fourth round of the game by a goblin.

I was using shift to run rapidly down hallways, looking for a shop, then I ran into and accidentally attacked a floating eyeball. Killed by a housecat.

I love floating eyeballs..wish the color was bright neon blue instead of that dark fade into the black blue though.

Eat their corpses, and then you get telepathy sometimes.

It's actually 100% chance when you eat their corpses. Problem is they don't always leave a corpse (50%).

I hate them becuase of the stupid way they are handled.

for one you cant close your eyes
and two it makes me need to constantly use "run" down the halls so I dont hit one accidently. And nethacks "run" sucks ass.

CoD, if you die for not watching where you're going, as far as I'm concerned, that's your own fault. Don't play Nethack and then complain about how easily you die. That's the spirit of the game. If you don't like it, don't play it.

I'd also appreciate it if you would stop posting just for the sake of disagreeing with someone, or calling something "stupid" or unfair. You needlessly criticize anything that you don't like, and your remarks never have any substance behind them. So stop.
