Attributes are the stats diplayed at the bottom of the screen. The manual calls them attributes, which is why the wiki calls them attributes.

I thought attributes were those little fact sheets that pop up when you use a wand of enlightenment, that say things like "you can pray safely."  Those are something else, though, aren't they?

Is there any sort of 'look' or 'examine' or 'see' command? I HATE having to look up every single little symbol that I don't recognize to make sure it won't destroy me.

dang, got killed by that guard for no reason I guess. Something invisible was blocking my only route of exit and 'mumbling curses' at me though.

Thank you. It was part of my little April fool joke, which was based off of an obscure April fools joke made by NASA on their water on mars discovery. Mine however, was to prove that they "faked" the image because I could reproduce it.

Anyway, I had a really good run with an Elf Ranger and a lawful human priest, got to dungeon level FOUR! Is there any way to check your pet's stats?

I'm getting a bit better, need to work on it though. Really frustrating when I'm minding my own business and a centaur and a gnome king come out of nowhere and gang-rape me.

Anyway, here's my nethack stream of consciousness:

"Bad kitty! Stop moving ahead and eating my corpses! My corpses!"

"goddamn you stone to flesh! Work already!"

"Why does it seem like everything moves faster than me?"

"God! Where are all these monsters coming from? I'd swear I killed them all!"

"A towel AND a brass lantern? SWEET!"

"Finally got stone to flesh to work! Now I have a huge hunk of meat! *Kitty runs in and eats it* GODDAMMIT BAD KITTY!"

"I just found this whistle and... sweet! magic whistle!"

"I have all these potions/scrolls and I don't know what they do, I'd save them for a desperation move but I get raped too fast to find out!"

Well, there are a lot of people on this forum, albeit smaller than most.  It's been awhile since I've noticed him post (probably because of the avatar change).

Would you guys be down to have a thread in the forum games section where we play Nethack and pool together bones files? It could be interesting, especially considering that most of us are loving fans of a game that practically centers around building bizarre traps and devices to kill intruders.

It would be great! We'd almost certainly get people building tombs and killing themselves inside of them.

They can?  Huh.  I figured they could, and tried, but I must not be doing it right.

Just made it past the rogue level. Got lucky in the early levels and got a cloak of magic resistance, a blessed platemail and Gauntlets of power.

I also have a ring of slow digestion, poison resistance, cold resistance, heat resistance and probably a few other things.

Haven`t played this for ages, but this thread is ALMOST enough to get me to try a couple more priests.  I never beat it; furthest I got was the elemental levels....
