wood burning = farmer?
« on: October 15, 2006, 06:21:00 am »

I would REALLY like it if wood burning fell under furnace operator/metalsmith instead of farmer because as it stands it's very confusing when half my farmers are really metalsmiths that have spent a long time making charcoal hehe...

Agreed- I was quite confused, and then amused when this first happened to me. Some peasant became a farmer, I was like "What?! I only have two guys getting food or doing anything food related, what's he -- oh... wait... what?"

I agree its confusing, though the reason a wood burner becomes a farmer is that a Wood Furnace can produce ash, which can be used to make fertilizer for farming, therefore a farmer. Perhaps Making Charcoal and Making ash should fall under two seperate skills, so that they can be seperated into Metalsmithing and farming, respectively. Or just remove the ash-interemediate step for potash/pearlash anyway.
