So things don't start off great. Turns out I didn't save after stealing those guns from the Dutch, and it went into that damnable RNG loop again. I let it go, because the Dutch need the help.
Dammit, you're supposed to refuse, so I can kill you in retribution. Screw it, I'll just be mean.
That's a cannon rolling into the village. I feel so cruel.
But the giant piles of money help me sleep at night. One village left to go.
So I know the Dutch have nine people left. Four are standing around my colonies trying to look threatening. I can mop them up next turn. That's another three in Fort Nassau, leaving two guys. Probably at least one there as a soldier, meaning one more guy either hiding in my woods, at Nassau, or standing around in Europe. And there's that damn Frigate.
DERP A Dutch soldier lost his weaponry, so the AI made him start a colony. It'll be toast soon enough, but I won't count it as a conquering victory.
Sonofabitch. Well, they deserve a victory once in a while. And that's my Frigate next to him.
For gobs of cash, you can hire people with specific skills, rather than waiting for someone you want to appear. It's time to kick New VN into high rebel gear, so I'm hiring an Elder Statesman. They're at the bottom for 1900 pesos, right above Veterans. Obviously, he'll be the only one I hire - before long, I'll be able to train more.
He returns to New VN with another gunsmith and a new Privateer.
You get this dialogue to abandon a town. I don't know where this peasant got 20 tools, lending veracity to my theory that the AI doesn't have to make tools or send out pioneers to work tiles.
The deed is done. No one will remember them but me and my accountant - 1800 pesos!
And I just noticed something. I didn't get any kind of dialogue mentioning it, but my tax rate dropped from 12% to 4% sometime over the last turn. Maybe Spain is finally pleased with my performance!
Not that the reprieve lasts long. Jerks.
Sacre bleu, pirates français! Le nons!
Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries!
Bay 12 during some population transfer. That's 17 people standing around.
The Arawaks, having heard of my brutal slaughter of the Cherokee, don't take any chances.
Hai guiz, didja miss me? Finally got around to building that plains settlement.
This took three turns. I didn't get any other pictures, but there was little to show. I run into one French soldier, and the Arawaks haven't made any more moves. Not that I plan to leave them alive.
A few turns later. The French are putting up a surprisingly annoying rear-action defense, and the Arawaks refuse to die. That (French) Privateer sent mine back to Bay 12 for repairs, the assault on Montreal won't be easy with the French resupplied.
This is me crippling the Dutch again. Piracy is much more fun with room for extra cargo.
You French bastards! I just bought that! Which means that Frigate is now unopposed...
Nonetheless, I conquer Montreal without further trouble. Weirdos have nothing but fishermen.
And Sir Francis Drake comes through for me, sending the last vestige of French naval power down to Davy Jones' Locker. New France has been destroyed; their Arawak allies are next.
Now that's what I call piracy. Sweet sweet silver. And I've sunk my first English Galleon.
And that's done. Annoying jerks. The French and Indian War ends in my overwhelming victory.
Henando de Soto is back, the quiet one with the bloody sword. New choices-
Peter Stuyvesant baffles foes with his unpronounceable name, and builds Customs Houses, which eliminate the need to physically ship large lots back to Europe.
Ferdinand Magellan grants ships an extra movement point, and speeds travel along the Pacific route.
Bloody basher George Washington automatically makes soldiers Veterans after one victory.
Pocahontas needs to go fuck herself, so Jefferson or Paine can take her place.
Juan de Sepulveda yatta yatta converts.
I'm never sailing the Pacific, I've got plenty of Veterans, and I'm never establishing a mission.
I'm almost tempted to take Pocahontas just to get her out of the rotation, but Peter S. is good, just because I mate micromanaging shipping routes.
The Bay 12 University is finally open, leading class is Theory and Practice of Politicing.
This used to belong to France. They built another town for some reason. I'll probably conquer it again when I need the road. That Galleon has four Dragoons, off to meet/sack the Aztecs.
So I've only gotten through 15 years, but I've been at this all day and need to cut it off.
