First thing's first.
You're listening to WKRP Chincinnati...Anyway, I left off in the middle of stuff, like-
Holy crap. An unarmed colonist fought off an Apache raid. Never seen that before.
The stoners are back. I agreed to a truce, because I'm kinda busy defending my towns, and their soldier boxed my scout into a corner.
Hey look, it's our old pal the wall-eyed queer. He's here to tell me I have to pay Spain for privilege of being Spanish.
Okay, taxes. When I take goods back to Europe and sell stuff, the tax percentage gets deducted from the money. There's no real rhyme or reason to when taxes get levied, but it's not that big a deal. For now. Taxes have another, ulterior effect, but I'll get to that later. As you can see, you can also protest a tax. I'll give you guys the option when it's a real tax.
Ha! Take that ya limey bastards. Incas suck to fight too, they always have dozens of towns.
I'm getting really sick of the Apaches, but I've only got three soldiers, so I gave them some food. I want them peaceful enough for an experiment. My last trip to Europe netted a free Jesuit Missionary, eager for American heathens to convert. Worth a shot.
They're still mad, but at least they'll shut up for a while. Plus, free labor.
More Indians. These ones aren't mad yet, so I can extort some gifts out of them.
More crap to explain. There's no morale or happiness system in Colonization, but there is Rebel and Tory sentiment. People are loyal Tories by default, but political activity (Liberty Bells), tax hikes, and probably other stuff causes people to turn rebel. This is good and bad. Good because towns with higher rebel sentiment produce more out of some picaresque notion of the work being worthwhile if you're keeping the proceeds. Bad in that your European masters get pissed off and take it out on you. It's a wonderful cycle of ungratefulness and oppression.
Be... Our... Guest! Be our guest, put our service to ze test,
tie your napkin 'round your neck cherrie, un we provide the rest...May as well go with a peace treaty for now. The French are a ways down the coast.
The Apaches are showering me with gifts. And the English and Dutch signed a treaty.
Two notable facts. The English are fighting the Apaches too, and they've built several towns to get that name.
I built a Church in Bay 12 (sorry atheists) to get some immigrants. Working on a fur trader's for coats.
You know what? Screw caution. I've got a Veteran Dragoon behind a stockade. Bring it.
"I say old chap, we're terribly short on edibles. Squanto has yet to produce the baked beans on toast we ordered."
I've seen some English soldiers scouting around way out west, but I don't know where their towns are.
A lumberjack desperate to practice his
lovefaith with trees joined the team. He and the Carpenter are in Chincinnati building up the infrastructure. Razor's edge here.
