Build up the cities and conquer the Incas. Build a bridge made entirely of money to Spain. Kick their butts.

Not your own towns though. That would be stupid.

I dunno, I got some pretty wealthy towns.  You know I'd be worth plundering.

I don't know how, but do it!

Wouldn't that make him angry and retaliate against himself?

Not if he's too busy reeling in pain from the attack to respond!  That's why he needs to strike first!

Actually build and develop all those towns I've neglected, and the many more I need.
Restructure my population to a full scale military mode to fight the Incas, and later Spain.

these two, in that order.

Settle as many as you can, as close as you can, and move fishinland on trade routs to feed the world
return leg is finished product.

Once those are in place, slaughter everything that moves

Ahoy people of New Various Nonsense!  Your great Governor Baron Aqizzar has returned from my extended absence, to guide our glorious land to Independence from our oppressive Spanish overlords.

However, I'm stalled for a moment, because it's time for another Caucus.  I need to choose another Congress Member to conjure up, and the proper choices are-

Adam Smith - I'll be declaring Independence soon enough, and I'll need all the guns, tools, and cannons I can churn out.  Plus, factories are seriously dwarven.  Harvesting raw materials is actually the hard bottleneck in my production systems, but it would still be nice to build actual manufactorums.

Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda - Attacking Indian villages might generate Indian slavesconverts.  Supposedly, Juan makes this happen more often, and it can happen without Juan's help, but I've already slaughtered 27 camps and cities, so I have my doubts.  Sounds pretty righteous though, so I'm willing to give him a shot.

So my fellow Nonsensicans, whom shall I summon for you?

Goddam, you didn't kill 'em all yet?

I say go for factories so you can start building your colony ship tools of death.

Go with Smith.  The factories make you get more output per input, so you'll need to harvest less too.

So I tried playing my next turn in the Civ4 Colonization mod.  Like almost every 4X game, I find myself hopelessly outmatched by the AI within 50 turns, on Medium difficulty.  I don't know how, but the AI is always able to generate more Political points, colonists, and money, and beats me to every Indian town.  Damn game.

Oh right, I'm supposed to playing the 1994 original.  Christ.

And that happy note is where I'm shutting down for the night.  Yeah, not that big of an update for the delay, but my computer is stuttering so bad it will hardly register my mouse clicks now.

Join me next time for the Great March of Gold, as I slough my way through the mighty Inca Empire!

You've not used my favorite cheep trick yet.

Refusing to pick any of the 5 they give you, to get given a new set of 5.
I used to abuse that badly to get indian converts early
then poheauntus to make them less agressive
then once i was done with the slaughter convert em

Except for some early piracy, and boneheaded combat results (fortified cannon damaged by unarmed braves), I've tried to avoid savescumming as much as possible.  There have been a few times when I had to reload because the game crashed, and I tried to replicate previous results, but even that is sketchy.  Weirdly, the game seems to know when it's being savescummed.  For instance, a few sessions ago, I attacked a fully loaded merchantman with a frigate or something, but had to repeat the turn.  Forty times in a row, the frigate was sunk in retaliation, before I just gave up and backed off.

Nha, it's not savescumming.

And it saves the seed for the RNG, so if you save and load and redo, it's kept the seed and the results will be the same.  You have to have a save a full 'turn' back in order to get enough change to a seed to change the result.

The trick is, instead of picking a person to recrute, you close the recrute window with the close window button... and then next turn it offers 5 differnt ones.  You loose an entire turn of bells, to get a differnt choise set.
