Real life can suck my colloquialisms.

The street

Charging outside, both Olon and Kogan charged headlong into Bardbeard, knocking them into a heap. All three were up in a flash.
“What the hell?” asked Bardbeard, brushing himself off.
“No time! Assassins! Let’s go,” said Kogan, running off ahead. Bardbead drew his sword and charged after him, followed by Workerdrone.
Up above, in Workerdrone’s room, Oldbeard cursed. He was planning on taking out the enemies from above but they had ducked down an alley. He quickly leapt from the window, rolling when he hit the ground. Ouch... He stood up quickly, checked the pistol then ran off, following the others.
The three dwarves stopped just outside the alley the others had run into. It’s never a good idea to run into an alley when someone in it has a crossbow. But maybe they’d… Workerdrone removed his helmet and poked it around the corner.
Pwhp!
Gods above, they’d actually fallen for that one. Workerdrone decided to have some fun and screamed as if he’d been hit. He winked at Bardbeard, who roared “Let’s get out of here!” and made as much noise as possible, matched by Kogan. They heard the men whooping and laughing. Both Kogan and Workerdrone took up positions on both sides of the alley and as the men charged out, swung. The axes took them in the chest, splitting their armor and cutting deeply into them, throwing both of the men back. Battle was joined.

The others were shocked and horrified at the attack, and broke immediately, trying to charge past the dwarves. They took them down, easily. Workerdrone made a point of knocking one would-be assailant onto his ass, and disarming him. Behind them, however, one man had escaped and was rearming his crossbow. Unbeknownst to them, he raised it and aimed…
BANG!

A plume of smoke shot out from across the square and the man with the crossbow clutched his side briefly, before collapsing with a sigh. Oldbeard strode across the space, nonchalantly, and holstered the pistol.
“What. The hell. Was that?” asked Bardbeard.
“Later lad, later. For now, who are these people?” asked Oldbeard, walking over to the terrified man, who didn’t dare try and run. Workerdrone loomed over him, a difficult feat for a dwarf.
“Who sent you?” he growled. The man almost fainted.
“My captain! I’m part of the Godly Swords and you bastards took a contract out from under our noses!” he said.
“A contract? We haven’t taken any contracts. What the hell are you talking about?” asked Kogan.
“The contract to kill the dragon that’s been plaguing the villages north of here! Good money, we’ve been trying to get it for weeks and the warlord just awarded it to you!”
“Huh,” said Kogan. “We’d best inform Barbarossa. What do we do with this one?”
Workerdrone raised his axe but Bardbeard grabbed his arm.
“No. We let him go, to tell his captain what happened and why it would be unwise to mess with us.”
Workerdrone nodded. He put his face close to the human, his nose almost touching his and whispered “boo.”
The man took off at a run.
“Well, that went well!” said Kogan. “Now, Oldbeard. What the hell was that?”

i had worked that much out on my own, yes. that still does not change the fact that workerdrone can be awsome in this story.

Oh, that reminds me, Labs, you're integral to the story, but we won't get to you for a while yet.

Olon won't be any less important because I'm (and he is) steadfast on my (and his) view of firearms, right? Its cowards game not to fight your opponent mano a dwarfo.
