Burrowing
« on: September 02, 2007, 08:06:00 am »

It could be possible to make burrowing animals since now we have third dimension.
Shouldn't be as quick as walking, flying and swimming but it should be useful.
Or maybe I just want to make a sand worm.   :D

Animals should definitely have burrows. Animals need to live somewhere too.

Maybe you want to see a sand worm, but I want to see miners accidentally tunnelling into the cave of a family of bears having their winter sleep.

code:

"Uh... Heya."
"RAAAAAR!!!"
"Yes, I completely agree, this was very foolish of us, and..."
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!!!"
"There's no need for harsh language, we'll..."
"GRUUAAAAAAAARRRRHH!!!"
*rip*
*tear*
"But, madam!"
*dismember*
*shred*

you could simulate burrowing in animals like groundhogs by making them able to path through soil tiles.

Which gives me an idea for when Elves send ambushes. Why not have them bring some tamed burrowing animals with them to get into the fort behind enemy lines?

Oh, I know, it's just funny that they're, like, a CR 1 or 2 and a group of 2nd level adventurers can get gibbed by them.

What I find funny is DACHSUNDS were bred to hunt badgers. Badgers are viscous little SOBs. Dachsunds? Well, mine is a total bitch, but not tough in the least so...

As I said in a previous topic when someone mentioned that tunnels could ruin the Fortress layout...

Tunnels made by creatures other then your dwarves could collapse over time if they are cleared out.

I really do want to see Tunneling animals so Antmen infestations/attacks could happen

small creatures like gophers wouldn't make visible tunnels, they would just be able to pass freely through soil

Hey, badgers have one of the animal kingdom's most powerful bites. And they don't let go until they hear bone crunch.

If I wanted to recreate the world of one of my favorite stories, I should be able to specify that there is a civilization called Groan, ruled by Earls from a castle called Gormanghast.
You won't have trouble supplying the Countess with cats, or producing the annual idols to be offerred to the castle. Every fortress is a pale reflection of Ghormenghast..
