Unless someone claims it, I'd like to always be Mercanaires, please?

That is the way to gank someone!

Yeah. You pretty much pulverized him. But to be fair, mostly because of the first lucky shot - once the shield was lost, there was very little hope. At least you only have 5 operational Grunts now. The Gladiator did a great job putting his fist through your 2nd grunt. ;D

Bad news people. I don't know what happened, but today my laptop greeted me with a blank screen when I tried to boot it up. That means a problem with either the screen, the videocard, or the cable that connects them (one of the screen's hinges was damaged some time ago). Either way, taking it to be repaired will likely mean I won't see it for a week at least. If the RTD can be continued from the desktop, this game will have to be put on hold. Sorry. :(

It wouldn't be as bad if I could think of backing the game up... then again, I still have the desktop, so the only real problem is getting all the icons and possibly the landscape set up again.

It's working as far as I can tell - it's just not showing anything on the screen. That almost excludes viruses, because the virus would have to embed itself almost deeper than BIOS to disable the ASUS logo on boot. That leaves either the GPU, the screen itself, or some point inbetween. Unfortunately, my delvings into the depths of the laptop seem to point at the problem being with the screen. Since we have no local ASUS service center, a new one will have to be ordered, which means at least a month of waiting. I couldn't contact any service center at all today (today being 1st of May and all), but I'll get to it tomorrow. In any case, my best bet currently is getting a 2.5'' SATA mobile rack so I can transfer some of the data from the laptop's HDD to the desktop. In the meantime, I can make an effort and start round 2, or start over. I have all the icons, but the map cannot really be recovered intact (I can try, but it's hardly worth it), so a new map will have to be made.

Also, I can run as many rounds as required simultaneously. I'd really like to put you and Pandarsenic in different rounds, because you're too far apart and a game like this is a lot more fun if you can get 7 turns an hour instead of 7 turns a week.

Two ways. PPC and desktop. Currently the desktop. If I make backups, I can even use the Pocket Artist to run this from the PPC.

Alright now. I redesigned the icons while I'm at it, a la this:

However, sitting at the desktop I realized that counting pixels is completely impossible with a CRT monitor. So I need some help devising a system that can display all 4 primary statistics and at least 6 health stats inside a 50x50 square without obscuring most of the background.

Preliminary test:

Looks alright.

Anyway. I won't redo the current map after all. Instead I'll start a few new rounds. Once I make a few new maps, I'll update the first post with relevant info.

However, I'd like some input. I have an idea to introduce a "jump distance" parameter, essentially how much of the total move the unit may spend jumping during a turn. But I'm not too keen on balancing, so maybe someone can help set it up?

Alright, icons finished. I guess there's no better way to display the stats, but since stats are available anyway and I'm the one tracking the health mainly, a little fuzziness on CRT monitors is negligible.

There, now all I need is a few decent maps.
