Water through grates?

If I put a a grate over a water source can they still get to it? I know, a lot of questions recently but I feel like I finally know enough to ask sensible questions :)

No, but a Well (DFWiki) will provide a water source.

Yeah, I was hoping to avoid building wells, but.. oh well :)

Your dwarves CAN fish through grates, though.

If you have lots of carp in your river, I recommend a big grated area for your fishermen.

Wells have a chance of having Dwarves fall into them... depending on your fortress and how you build your well it can happen with some frequency.

So it can be frustrating.

Oh, I'm not saying it outdoes Dwarf Fortress or anything, but it was a lot of fun to play.  Hard, but fun (I gave up somewhere around level 7).

After I realized I could get a shotgun from any shopkeeper I was able to do a full clear- almost disturbingly quick after clearing from shortcut.

The Shotgun is pretty much tied for best weapon so it is up for preference.

Though there is only one part of the game where the OTHER best weapon is worse then the shotgun so it is probably the clear winner.
