I had a weaponsmith, one Likat Wireflashed, who excitedly went into a fey mood gathering up 3 bars of aluminum and a short while later made a masterful spiked aluminum ball priced at 1,340,000 dwarfbucks.
After joyfully hopping about for a minute I looked at what he engraved...

...For such impudence I ordered him crushed by his own profane weapon and burned his corpse in magma.

And this is bad HOW? It would be like the second coming of Boatmurdered. Now, all that would need to be done to complete it would be the engravings of elephants...ah, the awesomeness that could have been!

My engravers tend to do "The image relates to the chopping off of the elf [name]'s 3rd toe in the battle of [name]" a lot. There's a lot of elf-killing engravings in my current fort. None as awesome as the burning one though.

It does help that I have 4 legendary engravers/masons running around smoothing and engraving _everything_. It's a goddamn pleasure to work in my construction halls, I tell you. If you don't mind the spiders.

The smaller ones - I wouldn't have my workers slave away near a GCS! (for very long, at least) So they just sting every now and then. Oh, and cover the entire floor in webs.
