i just found a fire raging in my food stockpile. now, i have magma but its a safe distance away. i had just gotten food in from a caravan, and had biscuit cooking on repeat.

im a bit baffled by it. i mean !!x(purring maggot meat [5])x!! is clearly from the caravan, but i cant tell if it started on fire, or if it got that way once it was in the stockpile.

i have a volcano on my map, but the fire imps have all been dead for a while. one of the wagons from teh caravan was super-slow, and got to the depot in midsummer.

How far away is the magma?

Maybe a fire snake got into the stockpile?

Or something set on of your Dwarves on fire and they went to go get a drink?

the mama is one z-level up and a couple dozen spaces away. there was no booze in that pile, and no dwarves are flashing with flame. i have seen a few damaged wooden barrels on the level above however, which seems odd.

edit- and apparently things can rot while on fire....

Do you have any Fire Imp Fat? I've heard tale of that fat burning forever.
Also, the rotting is because of the fire, it's just telling you how worn out the food is. lol
