It could have been the result of a hilarious discussion.  I'm disappointed that the reality is quite mundane.

Well just a stab in the dark, bros, but I'm thinking Toady One didn't outright lock the entire message board just because a single thread had Yuri and lolcats in it....

Oh, hilarity certainly ensues.  It's just that the beginning wasn't particularly awesome.  It just went:  "I predict a penguin fad."  And there was a penguin fad.

 If not, which I'm assuming is the case, I can only assume you are talking about multithreading, and Toady One said he wasn't going to impliment multithreading....

I just had to abandon VN after every thread degenerated into yuri and lolcats.

I thanked God for making it through those days of days. And I promised myself, I would find another part of the forum and spend the rest of my days in peace.

So, I quit the whole thing, penguins, everything. Funnily enough, it was only after I dumped my penguin that inaluct told me it apparently considered the best one after his

I tried talking some sense into those people that would make a thread degenerate into yuri (granted, I occasionally did so in a mildly nonsensical way).  It didn't work.
