A beach too peaceful
« on: April 21, 2009, 06:24:18 am »

I've managed to survive on nothing but wood and the odd piece of congolmerate in my new fortress. It's right next to a beach with an aquafier a few levels down, but other than that it's all going good.

But my question is, why haven't I had any enemies appear yet? I'm on my 6th year and I've not encountered even one Kobold, nevermind an ambush. Invaders is turned on in the .ini. Of course as you can imagine it's getting quite boring and repetative now, and for DF way too easy!

How much wealth is your fortress worth? They only show if it's high and if you have no access to stone, it won't get far

Are you at war with goblins?  Do they even exist in your world gen?  (hit <c> for civilizations)

569582. It's more based on the clothing/crafts industry.

There's just a Dwarven one in <c>.
*gets worried*

They only show up on your civ screen if you have had contact with them. Have elves or humans traded with you? If not then you are in an area that is difficult to access

Only the Dwarves in <c> have made an appearance and that was to trade. This is such a kick in the balls, considering I've quite a successful fortress despite the aquafier. And this is probably the first time I've complained about not being attacked, haha

Is conglomerate the only stone you have available? If you've punctured the aquifer, try digging straight down and try and find some stone to start mining out. Just my tip though, and I freely admit to being a newbie.

From Mr. Welch's 1350 things he is not allowed to do in a RPG:
148. There is no Gnomish Deathgrip, and even if there was, it wouldn't involve tongs.
171. My character's dying words are not allowed to be "Hastur, Hastur, Hastur"
218. No matter my alignment, organizing halfling pit fights is a violation.
231. I am not allowed to do anything that would make a Sith Lord cry.
240. Any character with more than three skills specializing in chainsaw is vetoed.

If you are on an island tough luck, nobody but the dwarves will come and visit you.

Yeah, this seems most likely.

Toady, how much of DF is inspired by Labyrinth? Is Armok actually David Bowie? Because that would simultaneously be disturbing and awesome.
