What happened to my traders?
« on: April 20, 2009, 04:01:29 pm »

8th year of fortress, and no human or dwarf traders have been here for 2 years. I checked to make sure there is wagon access to the fort and even sent a suicide squad to the far edge to build a road to my fort. Elves come every year (hooray?) but I don't understand why the other civs don't come anymore.

This happens most of the time when you terminate the game without saving (clicking the evil little X button, or ctrl-alt-del, or hitting your power lines with lightning).  Whenever that happens, ALWAYS reload from a backup, ALWAYS, no exceptions.  Otherwise it will bite you a few years later.

The reason for this is because some hist figs are normally saved in their own little files on disk.  When you load a saved game, they are loaded into memory and those files go away.  When you save again, they're written back out.  Or SOMETHING like that.  In any case if you terminate without saving, you lose some files.
