I'd like to see them try and ban a font, that would be like trying to fight software piracy.

 Times New Roman is overused, everything uses it. It's not even terribly well designed. I say we ban it.

The problem is that Comic Sans is used not just too much, but inappropriately.

It was meant as a kiddie comic-book font. Yet it's being used on hospital signs, legal papers, and tombstones.

Ban comic sans? Pah pah pah. It's just a standard font that people use. They have a bunch of choices; arial, Times new roman, helvetica, comic sans. If you want something fancy, then you look for something else. If you don't, you take one of those.
So yeah, if you use comic sans, you're lazy. But the same applies to arial and such. Just cos comic sans wasn't 'meant' to be one of them doesn't mean they should ban it.

Good point about the l-shaped I-s. This is why I like to capitalize properly in all circumstances.

So, this thread has me looking through the font list in microsoft word, trying out the various typefaces. I also finally learned how to change the default typeface (Yay, no more nasty Calibri!).

I'm kind of liking Cambria as a general use font.
