Goblin PoW
« on: April 19, 2009, 10:31:11 am »

Well, basically, I'm reliably getting quite a few goblins prisoners in my cages (I've set quite many cage traps all over the map. Most ambushes get discovered when one of them get stuck on a trap).

So, now I'm asking for suggestions. What to do with them?

Put them in a drowning chamber?

Use them to train your military?

Something involving cats and magma?

Run a gauntlet! (See Dwarven Marathon thread)

Launch em away with bridges.
Drop them in pits and see in how many pieces they explode.
Feed them to a pet dragon.
Have your dwarves slaughter an entire regiment of them.

And as for arenas?... Well.... http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=34185.0

The Running Goblin tournament?  That would actually be kinda cool.

There's an idea for a later version, though.  Set up a special zone that makes dwarves not panic when they see hostiles, but rather, have happy thoughts.  Extra points for high value and bloodshed.

The dwarven economy is just a stand-in, from what I understand. As it is, it represents an actual economic system about as well as poison ivy represents a salad.

Magma + Goblins = Goblin flambe. Or, you could throw goblins off a HUGE-ASS BUILDING to their deaths, or, you could drown them in cave pools, or with carp. Yes, i see it now: Be like goldfinger, but instead of Pirahnas, they'd be Carp. Same thing to me. Anyway just get a bridge to flip in the direction of the river, BAM, nibble nibble...

Create a goblin underground village. Then you must mate with any female goblins, and in time, your differences will be set aside.

Just in time for slave labor.

Oh man, go one step further. Your dwarven military/nobles/priests could hold public executions and tortures. The hated goblin foes would suffer from buildable gallows and guillotine. Your hammerer will tie them to chains and take a few practice swings. Your animal dissector will complete his thesis on the goblin lower intestine and how to remove it, and the leftovers will be hauled to the refuse pile later. All of the cutting takes place on an Alunite table.

I personally prefer pitting into magma, and arena fights vs. military/animals.

I modded in a trap comp for just this circumstance.

It's basically the equivalent of a bunch of whips in one component.

Praise Armok for the grinder!

Steel Large Serrated Saw Blades tend to work better, I think.

Indeed!  The large serrated disc is the most lethal thing you can put in a trap, each one stronger than three swords! (of equivalent quality/material)

Hmm, I think I'm going to adapt a part of my wall to accommodate a "I'm lazy for this siege" room. I'll pack it with exceptional (and my artifact) mechanisms with 10 steel serrated disks made by my legendary weaponsmith.

This gon' be good! I'll probably fork my aqueduct to flood away the remains as well.
