furniture stockpiles

really need to release used barrels/bins/bags better... I've had barrels/bins/bags in my furniture stock now for 2 years with one ore two items in them but they never get moved to appropriate stockpiles so the items in them don't get used but if dwarves need to store something they'll find a NEW barrel/bin/bag to use instead of one that's already being used for that but is in a furniture stock because they just don't seem to LOOK for one THERE.

It would be REALLY nice to see them more aggressive about getting used containers OUT of the furniture stock and into a more appropriate stockpile. I can't make any new ones because the furniture stock has around 60 used items in it that are not getting moved. (around 10 plant barrels with a single plumpie in each for example)

lol I now have over 15 bags with a single plump helmet spawn in em... Every time I make a new bag ONE plump helmet spawn gets put into it (or one other kind of seed) and that's it... I have been totally unable to gather sand because of this (or process quarry bushes or anything else that needs bags) it's frustrating and happens with bins and barrels as well.

Maybe I am expanding too fast and all the haul stone jobs are causing a breakdown int he hauling AI??? not much stone is getting hauled but it seems that if I expand too fast this is when it happens most.

On that note... does a food barrel/seed bag count as food or furniture hauling? I intend to remove all hauling jobs except food from a dozen peasants or so and see if that helps.

I think the best thing you can do is be more careful with the furniture stockpiles.  I usually only let one bin to get on the stockpile at a time, that way it gets and item and carried away to the proper stockpile quickly.  They do still claim a crapload of bins for the same task, but not in as much excess since I wait until the used bin is filled to some acceptable capacity.

I hate furniture stockpiles.
