Story
Your fortress was called the Death Star?

"Oh, no, not really. Nothing can happen to it. Elite crew, fortifications and all that.. There's just this.. tiny hatch."
For some reason I have no problem imagining a DF player carving a large sphere out of a mountain and then putting a magma cannon somewhere on it.

Best, mega-project, ever.

Someone do this, now.
someone should mod it so they wear storm trooper armor instead of their normal armor.
and have their mayor as darth vader

Ooo, then, as Supreme Ruler, I can wear that Emperor Palpatine costume I wore a few Halloweens ago!  I finally have a use for that.  And they all scoffed me for saving it.

If this all doesn't fix it, your dwarfs are lazy. Apply magma.

Try rubbing a cat on it, that seems to help.

I'm in one of those funks which make me stay away from the game for a while.

Imagine this, a fortress 140 strong, with its exports based on its culinary exports. Enter a dragon, which manages to break in and kill exactly one champion before stranding itself on the platfor I made of my depot by breaking down the bridges leading to it. It was swiftly executed with extreme predjudace, but not before it burnt down the depot, and everything inside it.

What I had left was a flaming faint yellow diamond just outside the trade depot. The problem was that Summer came, and with it came humans with five fucktons of Dwarf fire/Booze. By the time it was all over, my fort had stabalized with a ratio of eight females to every male, with a grand total of nine dwarves, only four of which are adults, who fended off five sieges by utalizing the mechanisms that survived the maddened times in a glorious epicish way. Then for the first time in three years, I get an immigration wave... of Nobles. Fucking Nobles.

I wish my fort caught in flames and all my dwarves were burned alive.  You're lucky.

The problem is that my for is in a state of static maintenence, and I would be greatful for an immigration of peasents at this point. The current majority of the fort seems to be dogs.

If I was in your situation I would abandon then reclaim.  That way you get a whole bunch of working dwarves.  The problem would be that all your items are scattered, stockpiles are removed, etc.

Abandoning is for elves! I want to lose, not give up!

I thought you wanted to fix your problem.  Ok fine, kill your remaining dwarves so that you don't have to abandon.  Now you can reclaim without being called an elf.  I would advise magma and if you don't have that....gravity.

1. Produce high quality weapons.
2. Draft everyone.
3. Let them sparr non-stop without armor.
4. Let the accidental deaths and tantrums roll in.
