Yeah, it's not God. Or a god or g-d. Depending on your beliefs. Maybe to certain people, but those people are certifiable. Even the extraordinarily greedy did not, before retiring for the night, say "Oh money, please make Rachel in accounting fall desperately in lust with me. And give me a new central air conditioning unit."

I suppose one could make the argument that since money is believed to have value, it is therefore believed in. But a god goes beyond mere belief, it is worship.

Otherwise agree with it's standing in society. It could be worse. We could have a barter system. I don't know what you worship then.

I prefer to think of it in terms of dollars per person.  A trillion dollars doesn't mean much.  But three and a third thousand dollars for you, each of your family members and friends and every other american out there. tells you something.
