You realize that there is little to nothing that can be done about that in a lot of games, right &?

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

The way games are progressing nowadays, where people demand voice acting for every single minute piece of text, it probably can't be done any more. But if you consider making a game with no voices, it's very easy to put in hundreds of lines so the only real excuse is laziness.

Back then it was more due to memory restrictions.

It is time for procedural speech, and possibly voices as well.

One of my biggest peeves is the "Oh, I'll hit this stone building with my sword until it goes up in flames and explodes."

I'm looking at you, Warcraft!

It's even worse with arrows.

That's why I'm one of the few people who liked that 3D Populace RTS, when people attacked a building, it showed them running inside to tear the place apart.

I loved that game. Why don't people like it? I thought it was great fun. Building airships and filling them with firewarriors. Summoning dark angels. Was awesome stuff!

I don't like any twitch action games.  I rather play a TTS or DF.  Great fun.  Anybody else like The Worms series before it went 3D?

I loved Worms when it was still just Worms.  Armageddon is still an awesome party game, if you can talk people into playing it.  And I wasted loads of time with it on my laptop when I used to travel a lot or bring it to class.  Hell, it's even fun to watch.
