I must admit, I didn't kill the elves in Overlord. Although I know my morals, so this does not come at a surprise to me. Heck, often I just offend traders greatly and seize their stuff instead of driving them insane/dead in DF.

I can be evil, I shoot innocent people in Just Cause if they're driving a car I want, and will even shoot them as they run away just for fun.  I kill my dwarves purely out of boredom in DF.   All of that is easy for me.

But once it's a game with good and evil choices and consequences, I can't do it.  I couldn't kill the Little Sister in Bioshock.  I couldn't kill the ugly guy in Mass Effect when he didn't want to destroy his species(I could kill those space monkeys though.  So many space monkeys died that day).

The only game I could handle being evil was Knights of the Old Republic, and even then I was good until

I have had this problem for as long as I can remember. So, I just don't play evil characters, ever. Though, I don't have any problems being a total jerk to my dwarves. :-\

:o I sure hope you felt bad about that. She was my favorite character! There is no way I could have done that, especially after the subquest with her brother.

I think it's a vastly amusing thought that elephants are so afraid of heights that when Dwarves invented the Z-axis, they couldn't bear to face dwarves in combat anymore.

I usually try not to respond to threads filled with penguin avatars but i'll bite...

I don't know, I do a little bit of both, in Fallout 3 I had a hard time trying to be evil, I ended up being neutral. I killed those 3 zombies that wanted into tenpenny tower, and stole everything they owned, and at the end of the game I did what

. I thought it best for the future of humanity, and never did see why the Enclave was supposed to be the bad guys. Baseball will live again!

In Mass Effect I killed that stupid bug queen even when I was playing as a Paragon soldier. Good riddence. A murderous, genocidal bug species wants a chance for round two? Not on my watch!

I don't play an evil character in most games because chopping up random weak peasants and stealing their useless stuff doesn't really appeal to me. The "good" route usually pays off better in these games. The exception is in Adventure mode, I chop up kids and pesants all day long, especially goblin kids all day long.

Its only a game, but I don't really get off on "evil" actions unless I can justify it in my mind or the "evil" means justifies the ends, or it just seems exceptionally fun or beneficial to do so, which is rarely the case in most morality-based games I've played.

If there's anything to praise the Good/Bad system in Mass Effect about, it's that there is no evil side.

Paragon is doing what's best and right. Renegade is doing what you had to do... Most of the time...

I tend to be the bad guy if I can, but most of the time I'm more of a live let-live guy. Evil is such a raped term anyway. Something in me refuses to see anything as evil.

In overlord I saved the elven race because I was planning for after the game.
T harem of elven concubines sounds like a good thing for the embodiment of evil to have.

Heh.
Whenever I play Oblivion I become a Thieves Guild member, or part of the Dark Brotherhood. As a thief when I break into a house I murder everyone inside, first thing.
If I find a random adventurer in a dungeon I kill him for no reason.

In Thief: Deadly Shadows I kill EVERYONE I see, good or bad.

In Fable II I made everyone in Oakfield like me, then I led them all to the Temple of Shadows and laughed as they all died. Then I returned to the town and killed everyone I missed. Now the only people there are the children(damn invincible bastards).

This is just to explain, I have no morals when it comes to video games.

I play whichever side seems more interesting. In KOTOR, for instance, either the light or dark side (can't remember which) was more interesting. In KOTOR 2, the opposite was. In games such as Oblivion, I'm generally a goody goody. At least until I run into someone such as the adoring fan.

Well, I'm not entirely sure I could call myself a goody goody as I just about always join the thieves guild or Dark Brotherhood.

When it comes to other humans I tend to be a heartless bastard, but when it comes to cute kittens and puppies and snakes I get all mushy.  :P

If I was an evil dictator I'd probably be going "GUARDS OFF WITH HIS HEAD" (too a foe)Then I'd look down at my kitteh and say something like "You a good kitteh schoochy schoochy schoo"

I usually choose the option that's more entertaining.

E.g:

You see a hippo
1) Say "hi!"
2) Ignore
3) Strap it to a tree

I'd do number three for sure.

Edit: I'd love more opportunities to play as the bad guy. Unfortunately, there aren't many games that let you do this. Sure, you can do jerky, improntu cruel things but rarely in games are there any lasting consequences of being truly evil. If anything, you always end up doing good anyway.

The only ones I can think of are Fallout 1 and 2 and.... Dungeon Keeper. Maybe Evil Genius. You ended up being good in Overlord.

I'm pretty sure strapping a hippo to a tree would require some innovative Dwarven engineering.
