I kind of appreciate right before the floating continent, you team up with the empire and strike a deal with the espers and everything's all happy and the whole world is awesome!

The birds are singing, you have some time to just admire the beautiful mode7 trees, and then Kefka burns it all down.

Dwarvenly hilarious.

Having magic blasting mechanoids would be doubley awesome, but not for the next decade or so.

Wait.. Isn't his name Gilgamesh and not Sigfried? Or maybe I'm just mixing up some characters..

Is it just me, or did Ziegfried/Siegfried/Sigfried's name change 3 times in that whole thing?

Yep, apparently Woosley can't keep consistent spelling.

Also, yes, I think this character is a guest star from FFV named Gilgamesh.

Edit: misremembered numbers

I am pretty sure they have nothing to do with each other. They DO have similarities, now that you mention it.

And Gilgamesh originally came from V, but has re-appeared in a number of games after.

Don't you start out with suplex? It's just useless compared to aura bolt?

And take your time with the train fight. Getting hit by a (thrown) wheel whilst running backwards is almost as funny as going Suplex-Kirby on a train. Almost.

actually, you only start with suplex if you did any leveling at all before getting Sabin.  Just rushing to that point usually gets him without it.

He earns it soon enough though.  So suplex the damn train!

It is pretty hilarious that the battle becomes a back-fight with your characters running in front of the train, suggesting it pitched them off forward and is trying to run them down.  I don't know why they don't just dive to the side, since all they wanted was to get off.

Are you mad? The bushes along the side have sharp pointy thorns
and the ground is covered with pointy twigs!

Also, diving off of a train could kill or seriously injure you you, even if it wasn't going super fast. And I seem to remember this particular train going pretty fast. I might be wrong, though. To top it all off, they're in a forest, so they might hit a tree if they tried.

Except Shadow Inaluc. Because he's a ninja.

But that's my point.  They're already on the ground when fighting the Engine.  Why not... step out of the way?

Because you are badass enough to punch through a damn train!  You need every opportunity you get to show that off.  Too bad Interceptor comes along and 1 hits it whenever I play, totally showing me up.
