x(Item Name)x
« on: April 14, 2009, 04:55:49 am »

What do the "x's" mean in that situation? I have quite a lot of clothing with this before and after it. IE x(Pig tail left mitten)x
I was thinking it has something to do with possession ( because all of the items with this belong to someone) or that it had something to do with wear. As in it has gotten old and is therefore unusable. I couldn't find anything on dwarf wiki.

It's getting worn out. Worn out clothing can give your dwarves unhappy thoughts.

A list of those can also be found in-game by under one of the headings in the ? menu.

Just let their clothes go to ribbons and never get any more, they're quite happy as nudists.

And I believe items with ()'s around them were not produced on site, and thus came off-map.

Yeah, I read that somewhere on the wiki.  There's a way to turn that off, since it's hard to tell a ( ) from a { }.

IIRC, worn out clothing does not make dwarves unhappy in this version.
