Night 1
To Alexhans:
You trail Cheeetar through his search, but nothing dangerous happens. Once his search is complete you two head off towards the old mine where webadict is supposed to bring your night's meal.
To Cheeetar:
You head off to investigate Kashyyk, eager to finish this night's work so you can meet up with webadict at the old mine to feast.
You carefully examine the house, using all of the tricks of the trade so generously[/b] provided by the human who's form you took. After a few hours of watching him, as well as clues gained by the possession in his house, you come to the conclusion that he is an FBI Agent.
To Frelock:
You head off to investigate Archangel, eager to finish this night's work so you can meet up with webadict at the old mine to feast.
Using your telepathic powers, you peer into his mind. You sense a strong desire to Find something within him. You ponder this as you head off to join the others.
To webadict:
You head off to Servant Corps house. The bloodlust is strong this evening, and you make good time. When you arrive at his house you spend a little time investigating the surrounding yard. Unfortunately, you find no real weak spots to exploit. Looks like you'll have to do this the hard way. Since the back door is barred, you find a large branch and smash one of the windows. You crawl through and quickly look around. This room seems to be a second bedroom of some sort, mostly unused. You head out into the hall. As you peer around you catch a glimpse of your prey looking over some strange device on a counter in another room. He spots you and raises some sort of weapon. You quickly dodge down the hallway, out of his view and into the living room. Strange bursts of energy crash into the doorway just as you pass through. This is no human!
He rushes down the hallway at you, and you dive behind the couch as more energy bursts explode through the room. Thinking quickly, you brace yourself and send the couch flying towards him. You hear him grunt as the couch slams into him. Leaping to your feet you spring over the couch and land on the prone form of your adversary. Your claws rip into his eyes and throat, silencing him before he can even raise a hand against you.
You look down at the body of your victim. You rifle through its clothing until you find a strange device. After you rip it off the corpse it assumes its true form, that of a dark reptilian creature. You cautiously taste the blood on your claws, and spit it out quickly. Foul. This may or may not have been a waste of time, but it certainly didn't get you any food. You reluctantly decide to head by an abandoned farm for to find your supper for the night. Animals barely quiet the hunger in your belly, but you don't have time for anything more.
To Beacon80:
You carefully sneak up on webadict's house in the darkest hours of the night. Using your telepathic abilities, you scan his mind. You can sense a strong desire to Kill emanating from him. You quickly return home, anxious not to be seen.
To bob_smith:
Unable to decide on a target, you spend the night at home.
To Kashyyk:
You had wanted to go off and investigate webadict tonight, but you just can't muster up the energy. After a little while you give up on your attempts to gather the necessary surveillance gear and slump down on your couch, utterly exhausted. You doubt that this exhaustion is natural.
To Servant Corps:
You spend your evening preparing materials for you eventual contact with an Agent of this country's government. You have much to tell them. As you pour over the holocube that contains everything currently known about the doppelgangers you hear a crash. Whirling around, your hand drops to your side arm. Out of the corner of your eye you see movement down the hallway. A quick snap of your wrist and deadly bolts of energy slam into the doorway at the end. No sign of your intruder, but you're certain you didn't hit him.
You carefully make your way towards the living room. You can make out a shadowy form in the darkness. You send more blasts its way, but it makes a quick roll and ducks behind the couch. As you ready your blaster for another salvo, the couch comes hurtling at you! You're knocked backwards by the force of the blow and trip. As you try to recover, a figure comes leaping over the couch. Its skin is pale, it's face featureless but for a large mouth of sharpened teeth. As it lands on top of you the last thing you see is its claws coming down at your head.
Death is swift.
To Zaithemaster:
You take a quick trip by Kashyyk's house. Using your psychic abilities you drain the energy and will from him. He, at least, won't be going anywhere tonight.
Night 2
To Beacon80:
You walk carefully over to where Chaoticjosh lives and begin your psychic probe of his mind. All you can detect from him is a strong desire to survive
--
To bob_smith:
You grab your guns, a good amount of ammo, and a nice sharp knife and head off into the night. Kashyyk has drawn your suspicions, and while everyone else was too cowardly to kill anyone today you'll rectify that mistake yourself. This monster will die tonight!
However, when you arrive at his house you find the door busted down and nothing inside but a large smear of blood on the ground. Looks like someone beat you to him.
--
To Cheeetar:
Using all the stealth you possess you head over to Zaithemaster's house. After peering in his windows and watching him through his blinds, you see him go into a special room. There you see incense, mystic symbols, and many different Crystals. Further, you recognize a symbol on his wall. He is obviously a Psychic Warden.
With his role in this town established, you head off to join the others in the Mine. Hopefully there will be something more satisfying then chicken for dinner.
--
To Frelock:
You wander past Beacon80's house on your way home, and casually stop and tie your shoe behind a convenient tree. A quick scan of his mind reveals an intense desire to find something. Whistling happily, you head off to your house to rest a bit. Time enough later to join the others at the mine for the night's feast.
--
To Kashyyk:
You quickly gather your supplies and head off to investigate webadict. You don't want whatever stopped you last night from doing so again.
You reach his house without incident and begin your surveillance. After a short while you see him transform into a doppelganger right before one of your cameras! He looks directly into it, and you can see the horrible mouth gape open as he moves towards the camera. You quickly shut close your laptop and sprint back to your house. The equipment can stay where it is, since it won't do you any good if that monster catches you.
As you near your front door you hear a thud behind you. As you glance back you see the doppelganger behind you. He grabs onto you, sharp claws digging deep into your sides. A moment later you're hurling through the air, and the air explodes from your lungs as you crash through your front door. You struggle to rise, to pull out your gun, to do something...but the beast is on you before you can do more then get to your knees. A swipe of its claws to your throat and the world goes dark.
--
To webadict:
The hunger grows within you as dusk turns to true night. You cannot wait to go out, to hunt, to feast upon the flesh of this human. As you prepare to depart, you notice a form outside your house. Watching carefully, you see it place a small camera in one of your windows and scurry back behind a hedge. Hmm...so, he thinks spy on you does he? The anger burns in you, and you feel yourself transforming. You turn towards the camera and bare your teeth at it. Let him know you're coming, it won't save him. And the taste of fear from his mind will make the hunt all the more enjoyable.
You head out your front door and head after the fleeing human. He has a head start, but your speed far outmatches his. You reach his house a few moments before he does, and sit in a tree in his yard. As he sprints towards the door you drop down behind him. You can feel the terror emanating from him as he turns to look at you. Quickly, you lash out with your hands and grab him. Lifting him above your head you toss him at the door, listening with pleasure as it crashes inward from the blow. A few steps later and you are inside. The human tries to rise, his hand fumbling for the gun beneath his jacket. A swift slash from your claws to his throat ends his feeble struggles, and he collapses in a pool of blood onto the floor. You heft the body over your shoulder and head off to the mines. Tonight you and your kin shall feast on human flesh, as is right and proper.
--
To Zaithemaster:
You head over to chaoticjosh's house and begin the ritual of submission. After a bit you can feel the psychic energy dampening the area. He won't be going anywhere tonight.
Night 3
To Archangel:
You pace back and forth in your living room. Your thoughts race. Who are the doppelgangers? I'll get just one shot at this. It's got to be perfect.
As you turn to make another pass through the room there is an explosion of sound, and pain. You can here gunfire shattering your window, and feel the bullets rending your flesh. NO! You scream in your mind. Not...not...yet. Must...find...
You fall into darkness, you mission failed and your life lost on this pitiful planet.
--
To Beacon80:
As the group beings to disperse, you carefully follow Cheeetar back towards his house. When he goes inside, you hide behind a hedge and scan his mind. Within, you can sense a strong desire to find something.
You ponder this as you head back home. As you reach your front door, you can sense something is wrong. There is someone with ill intent nearby. You sneak around the house, and quietly open the back door. Out of the darkness a hand appears, grabbing on to your face. You feel a wrenching sensation, and then nothing.
--
To bob_smith:
Time to go hunting again. Hopefully you'll have better luck hunting Archangel then you did Kashyyk.
You wait until dark, grab up your guns, and head out the back door to reduce the chances of anyone spotting you. It takes you awhile to get to his house, but you don't have any problems on the way. When you reach his house, you can see lights on and Archangel pacing back and forth in front of a window. You raise your rifle and fire off a few bursts. You can see a few shots hit, and he crumples to the ground. You plug the body with a few more shorts, just to be sure, and quickly head off back home.
--
To Cheeetar:
As the last rays of light fade into night you head out from your house. Moving swiftly and silently, you reach bob_smith's house confident that you have not been seen.
As you creep along the roof, you spot him leaving through the back door. His is heavily armed, carrying an automatic rifle, several pistols, and who knows what else. You quickly deduce that he is an aggressive war vet and lie low until he has left. You then hurry off to join the others, hoping that none of them were his target for tonight.
--
To Frelock:
Shortly after returning to your house you find yourself overcome with weakness. You struggle against it, but the weariness is too strong. You fall asleep on your couch, awakening in the grey of dawn, your stomach growling with an aching hunger. No time to investigate tonight, all you can do is join the others and feast. Your hunger will allow no less.
--
To webadict:
The bloodlust burns within you. It demands more death. More blood.
You decide to move swiftly, reach Beacon90's house before he does. This kill will be quick and easy. Once away from the rest of the townsfolk you transform into your true body and race swiftly to Beacon's house. You wrench open an attic window and crawl inside. From there it is a simple matter to get down into the house proper.
You wait...and wait. He should have been here by now...must have gone off somewhere first. No matter. You can wait. He will return here, and he will die.
More time passes, and you catch a glimpse of him coming up to the front door. You crouch, out of sight, and spare quick glances at him through the window. He hesitates at the front door, and then walks away, going around the house. He must sense your presence. No matter, you'll just go to the back and chase him down.
You hear a key in the lock of the back door just as you reach the kitchen. Thinking quickly, you press yourself up against the refrigerator, just out of sight. Beacon enters quietly, cautiously. As he steps inside and turns your way you lash out with one hand, grabbing onto his face. Your other hand grabs onto his torso and with a quick twisting motion you snap his neck. No blood, no mess. Now, off to the mines to join the others. There is human to feast upon.
--
To Zaithmeister:
You carefully trail Frelock to his house after the meeting breaks up. Once he is inside, you invoke the ancient rites and drain his energy from him. Satisfied that he'll be doing nothing tonight, you head home.
Night 4
To Dopps:
To Alexhans - Protect Cheeetar
Cheeetar - Investigate Inaluct (attacked by bob_smith)
Frelock - Kill Bob_smith
With Frelock taking over the Night's hunting, Webadict takes a well deserved rest. He'll join the rest later to feast on human soldier.
Meanwhile, Cheeetar heads out into the night. Alexhans, as always, follows behind him to protect him from danger. He heads off to inaluct's house to determine what threat he might pose. After a few hours of observation, he determines that inaluct has no role to play in the town's defense. Satisfied, he and Alexhans head off to the mine to await Frelock.
However, as they head down a side street Alexhans holds up his a hand. There is danger nearby. Cheeetar stops, just as a bullet slams into the building next to him. Right where his head would have been if he'd kept walking. Glancing around, your senses detect a figure up on a rooftop. Armed, and obviously out to kill Cheeetar. Alexhans grabs Cheeetar and quickly hauls him out of the line of fire. As you wait around a corner, you can sense the soldier moving on the rooftops. Trying to find you. Trying to kill.
Then, you sense another figure. A familar one. Frelock. With a bounding leap and unnatural strength he leaps onto the top of the building, directly behind bob_smith. A swipe of his claws and the soldier staggers backwards. His gun falls limply onto the rooftop, and is quickly kicked over the side by Frelock. But the soldier isn't done fighting yet. He draws a large, serrated knife from a sheath on his leg and drops to a fighting stance. The two circle one another, the telepath using his mental abilities and natural abilities to counter the human's years of training. Back and forth the two take swipes at each other, feet moving carefully to avoid slipping and falling. Then, with a speed unmatched by any human, Frelock dashes to the side and slams a kick into the soldier's back. The blow is strong, and sends bob_smith flying backwards off of the building. He lands with a wet thud on the pavement below. Landing nimbly beside him, Frelock slits his throat with a quick slash of his claws. The soldier may have died in the fall, but no point in risking a surprise attack.
Frelock joins up with Cheeetar and Alexhans, and the three take the body off to your dining room in the mines.
Webadict joins a bit later, still somewhat sleepy from his rest.
--
Zaithemaster - Block Webadict
You head by Webadict's house just after dusk. Hiding behind a large bush you perform your rite of submission, psychically draining energy from him. You leave confident that he will not be doing anything tonight.
Night 5
To Alexhans:
Knowing that the humans will be extra vigilan tonight, you wait until dark before beginning your hunt. Since you strongly suspect that your victim will have psychic guards around him, you take the extra time to build up your defenses. His magic may be strong, but it will not be able to breech your mind shield.
Finally, as true darkness sets in, you head off. As you move, you can feel the bloodlust rush through you. Night after night you played the role of Protector. Now it is you who has the honor of being Hunter.
When you reach the house, you can feel the Psychic engergy crackling around the house. You can feel Pandarsenic inside, waiting for you. The door is unlocked. If you could truly smile, you would. The fool is overconfident.
You find him sitting in the middle of a mystic circle.
"I was wondering when you'd show up, beast" he says calmly as he rises and turns around. "I cannot defeat you, but you should know that you will not survive the dawn should you slay me."
"I do not fear you sorcery, Warlock." you growl as you thrust your clawed hand into his chest. Your long claws pierce his heart, and he gasps and falls forward. As you withdraw you hand he whispers. "May Morrigan have your head". You let the body fall to the ground. When the corpse hits the floor, the energy in the room spikes. Lines of red energy crackle along the circle, and a beam of darkness strikes your chest from the center of the circle. The energy fractures on your shield, and motes of light fall around you.
"She's welcome to come fight me for it," You say to the corpse. "But I do not think she'll win."
You scoop up the body and head out to join the others. This night proved more interesting then expected.
--
To Pandarsenic:
As evening turns to dusk, the weaves of fate become apparent to you. The hunters shall come for you tonight. There is no escape, but there could be retribution.
You spend the next two hours preparing. You strengthen the weaves of psychic energy around you, and call to the ancient gods. You may fall, but your death will not go unavenged.
As you sit in the ritual circle, you feel a presence behind you.
"I was wondering when you'd show up, beast" you say calmly, as you rise and turn to face the doppelgagner. "I cannot defeat you, but you should know that you will not survive the dawn should you slay me."
"I do not fear you sorcery, Warlock." Growls the monster. It lashes forth with a hand, and impales you with 5 long, sharp claws. As you slip into darkness you whisper to it "May Morrigan have your head."
Your soul slips from your body, and you move on to find your rightful place in the underworld.
Night 6
Zaithemaster - Block chaoticjosh
As you have done so often these last few nights, you head off once night settles in. You stop at chaoticjosh's house, and begin your rite. After a while, the webs of psychic energy converge around his house, draining him of his energy. Satisfied, you return home.
--
Frelock - investigate chaoticjosh
Once again you venture out, not to kill, but to investigate. You stop by chaoticjosh's house long enough to peer into his mind. All you can sense is a strong desire to survive this horror. You head off to the mines, pondering this information.
--
Alexhans - Kill inaluct
You feel the thrill of the hunt coursing through your body. Impatience gnaws at you as night slowly falls over this shattered town. Eventually, though, you decide that it is safe to go out.
Cautiously, you approach inaluct's house. You wait a while, and watch. You can sense him inside worriedly pacing through the house and muttering to himself in a language you cannot understand. Finally, your impatience can wait no longer. You rise up, rip the door off its hinges, and stalk inside.
inaluct turns to face you as you walk in. He flicks a switch on his belt, and his form changes. He is no longer human, but something you have not seen before. An alien being, dark blue, with for arms and a strange tentacled face.
"I expected this would occur. It is no matter. My death will not save you, doppelganger, and I am not such a coward that I would run from my fate."
"So be it, alien" you growl. He does not resist as you reach out your claws.
Over the next few hours you vent your anger and frustrations out on the hapless alien. When he finally dies, you drag the corpse down to the town hall and hang it up over the door. Let these humans see what good resisting will do them.
Eventually, you meet up with Frelock in the mines and share a scant meal of chicken.
--
inaluct
You find yourself looking up at the stars a lot recently. Thinking of your friends and family back on your home planet. You are a simple scientist, here to study these primitive people and watch as they make their slow way up the technical ladder and into space. You never expected that interstellar politics would ever find its way to you, especially not in such a small town on this backwater planet.
And yet, it has. Several alien civilizations are all obviously using this planet for their own means. And now your life is in danger from these doppelgangers.
You could have joined them, could have spared yourself. But you're above that sort of petty self-preservation. Selling out these simple people for your own skin, well, it wouldn't be worth going home at that point. You couldn't look your family in the face if did something so dishonorable.
No, better to work to save the humans. Find more of these monsters, and kill them. If you have time. If they don't come for you next.
Your reverie is interrupted by a great crash. You turn to find a doppelganger walking through the remains of your front door. After a moment of thought you switch off your human disguise, revealing your true form to the doppelganger.
As calmly as you can you address the monster. "I expected this would occur. It is no matter. My death will not save you, doppelganger, and I am not such a coward that I would run from my fate."
"So be it, alien" it growls. You do not resist as it reaches for you with its claws. Perhaps it will at least grant you a swift death.
Your hopes prove painfully unfounded.
