Sure, canīt wait to have my pet-medusa that I supply with my oldest/near death dwarfs so I can have nice statues of them
Just remember not to put those statues where family members or friends can see them. Perhaps set it up for everyone to have a grudge against this person, then put it in the meeting hall. "He/She saw someone he/she hated turned to stone, and laughed at their statue lately." It would be a bonus of different levels depending on how much they were hated or liked. A lover would likely go berserk over the statue being displayed. While a hated enemy would be ecstatic.
I think we have to wait for some sort of artistry arc or something to make statues more important, at least. After that, add a line of sight poison, stoning desiese that affects eyes first or nothing, and watch whole sections of caves be blocked off by your high adventures.
I don't see why, but I really don't know much about the internal workings of this game other than what I guess. Statues are statues, you set it up to be a legendary statue, or one level below. Then change the statues title from "statue" to "statue of ****** " and add something like "This is the fate of those who gaze into a medusa's/basilisk's/cockatrice's eyes. It is made of granite, and depicts the attacking/running/whatever-the-character-was-doing-at-stoning form of ****** in perfect detail."
Why make it only the eyes? It is supposed to be the whole thing all at once, unless they have protection or resistance. It is the "contact" stonings that are only partial.
So, to get a cockatrice in your fort, you have to wait until a rooster randomly lays an egg, then go dig a pit under a toad outside, and throw the egg in. After enough time passes, a cockatrice will appear in the hole. I am guessing these occurrences are supposed to be happening utterly randomly though. So these creatures do appear, but extremely rarely. I don't know how rare a medusa would be though. In some cases they seem to be a race, in others there's just one, other times it is a curse that affects just a group.
We have demons, dragons, flaming monsters, things that shoot web, and a whole load of stuff that do unrealistic things without the magic system. I think the magic system would come into effect when
un-stoning people.
Also, you people use the word "arc". I am certaintly a newbie, and I don't know what it "arc" means, I just assumed it was the coded structure of the game.
