"Look, um... as long as you're NOT here to kill me, maybe I could help you with something?  I've lived in this city for a long time.  Maybe there's something that I can remember.  Its a bit hazy, though.  You really did screw up my mind."

"That does seem to be the general consensus, yes."

"Okay, here is the truth: I have no freaking idea what's going on. The only thing I really know is that I did something very, very bad, but I can't remember jack squat, no one's giving me any straight answers and the only lead I have is the "nameless tower". You probably know more than I do"

"*Ahem.*  I do remember that the city is not a place for those who have forgotten.  The Tower is not only the monolith that keeps watch over us, it is not only a testamount to uncertainty.  It contains, within it, of it and encompassing it, a theory.

It is an obsession.  An idea that you created, that keeps watch over the badlands and all of Tock.  A theory cannot be killed, it can only be disproven.  So far, no one has dared confront it.

Damnit! I'm SICK of this! Not knowing who I am, what I am, what is real! All that I am... was? will be? Simply can not be the same person! There is something extremly wrong going on here, and I'm NOT going to put up with it! If that something is in some technical sense 'me' dosn't matter, I REFUSE to just be thrown around by the winds of destiny to harm inocentws, or even you of all peaple! I AM NOT GOING TO BECOME THE MONSTER I INEVITABLY WILL BECOME! If it is what is needed, I will kill myself to avoid that fate, althou I doubt that in this twisted world that will have much of an effect...

*breaks down sobbing*

This is a transmission from the sphinx.

Let it be known that the situation you are in has an escape. Although it seems you are doomed to monstrocity, and alone in this wretched world of ruin, the truth is that there is a path to a greater ascention. Reality was never meant to break you down with its cruelties forged of dark rules. It was always the mind that was to transform reality, and create such wonders as have never been seen. The path to ascention is there, obscured by the shadows of a ruined world, master yourself and find the road. The path to ascention is not created, merely explored. Take this poor shattered one, and remind her of the wonders that should be, rather then the horrors that are, and maybe then the dark places of the world shall begin to shrink at your approach. Firstly, you must begin with the tower, and end with it. There are no bricks and mortar in it's design. What you cannot do with your body, you must accomplish with your mind and soul. Tear down the tower, and no matter how sweetly the darkness sings to you, and no matter how bright the light burns, remember that the dawn brings life and warmth, and that it is always darkest just before it comes. Crying hysterically:  “This wasn’t meant to happen!  You… you were supposed to be dark!  They told me that you would try to kill me!  That I would finally be able to confront you for what you have done.  But you aren’t that person!  You forgot!  You forgot ME!  You forgot ANGEL!  You forgot SCRATCHES!  And now you are here, as you were in the beginning of my memories.

If you want to help me, prove to me that you’re really true.  Destroy the theory that you placed upon the throne of MY city.  Do that, and then you can’t possibly be lying.  Free the mindlings under Tock’s sway.  And let the scavenger birds die!”


Crying, she grabs the scythe, and runs blindly away from John.

Initiating Transmission.

Now, let it be know that ordinarially we would not take such a direct hand here, but the truth of the matter is that you seem to be so thouroughly shattered that you lack descision-making faculties of your own, relying on the myraid phantasms of your mind. In any case, we believe that the course of action that would be most beneficial at this point would be to find our way to that dark edifice that is the tower. However, first, try to follow the broken one. This is the sphinx, signing off.

An army approaches Tock, aka The Dark City, aka The Medicated City, aka The City of Light.  They are fearful of the tower’s vengeance, and its power over the city they would otherwise easily overrun.  But their mad king has urged them forth, and they await his command.

The lost god of dreams has purified the Greylands – for the time being.  As was promised by the leader of that dreary place, the arguments shall be made soon enough.  He walks through the streets that once belonged to them, preparing to do battle.

His fallen creation runs away, as she has been known to do.  But the war shall follow her, and she will soon be forced to abandon her eternal exodus.

As this is happing, it has happened before, and I assure you,



It will occur again!

And so, my dear creator, I have one thing left to say before we begin:

Dreams of Industry:  “1st Argument!:  This city is happy, artificially so.  The purpose of existence is happiness, and thus we are utopia!

Critical Substantiation:  Through the wonders of medicine, provided by Gleejoy, we have found the cure for sadness.  There is no need for health, aesthetics, society:  Our citizens are eternally ecstatic.
