Human appraisal/broker
« on: April 11, 2009, 05:37:20 pm »

I've modded DF so you can play as the human race, though it says I need a broker with the appraisal skill to accurately show wealth. I've put ten points in appraisal on one of my Humans but I still get this message. Should I be editing/adding any tags to make this work?

Just as with dwarves, you need to go to your Noble settings and make sure that the Record Keeper noble is set to keep records at highest (or at least higher than current) precision.

He doesn't show up as anything in the Nobles list, and replacing the VACANT slot doesn't appear him either

humans have access to clerk jobs, so the raws shouldn't be the issue. Why is your broker position vacant? It should be filled by default at the start of the game by your expedition leader.

Also: I assume by 10 points you mean proficient, which is 5 points. Isn't possible to sink 10 into a single profession at the embark screen.

Yeah I just mean't he was 10 in it, rather than 10 points. I've generated a new world and done the usual things when modding but no difference. His profession is even Trader but that's as far as it goes.

I've deleted the tag and still no difference. If its any consolation they come up as slaughterable animals when I look over them :o

Sounds like you really bunged up your raws for them.  Post 'em.

Note also that the dwarf/human/whatever with the Appraisal skill needs to be your broker in order to see item values. By default, all administrator positions are given to the expedition leader, regardless of skill.

Toady, how much of DF is inspired by Labyrinth? Is Armok actually David Bowie? Because that would simultaneously be disturbing and awesome.
